Jandre, there is no feeling to match the one when you pull the car out of the driveway on its first drive after you have lovingly put it all back together. When all seems lost, just think of that day!

Today i removed the rear lights, chrome trim along the back and sides, and then i proceeded to remove the fuel tank.

Was pretty nervous about this, because bmw used a sponge type gasket between the tank and the body, and this was a big mistake. It retained moisture, resulting in rust along the boot floorpan.

So, needless to say that i was very very happy when i removed the tank and found NO rust.

Luckily, most rusty areas can be easily fixed in the 2002. Unlike the E9!
I am currently still stripping my car, it takes a lot of time, but then I know every small rust spot on this car and I know it is done perfectly.
