It is an early 1969 car. Was delivered to the BMW dealer in Kenya on 20 March 1969, So I would guess around Jan/ Feb 1969 or so.

That is correct.

Only tip I can give you is regular frequant visits to say "Hi"

I have at the moment undertaken not to do more then one respray project at a time,

Reason being is that this is so much work, that I put one guy on it, and only he works on it.

Believe me when I say its far easier to control that way,

WHat folks dont realize is that there is probably 150 hours that goes into preperation for a respray.

Yes its semi skilled labour, but in order to get it right, you kinda need to get the guy doing the work to "love the car" he is busy working on, and as such, I actually offer a small bonus to the guy doing the prep.

It only takes an hour to hour and a half to actually spray the car, but bucket loads of preperation.

So Jandre,

1. Frequant visits, dont mind if progress is slow, or appears slow, but just as long as its moving bit by bit, and you can actually see results.

2. You want on a classic, to see that the guys put out seperate parts compartments for your car, and that all your parts are in there, and kept together, particularly beadings and clips.

3. Ask them to call you during stages.
3.1. When the car is stripped, and make sure they took out all of the parts that could be oversprayed.

3.2 When they have done the body work, and the filler has been sanded, inspect the quality of the sanding job.

3.3 Phone once they have put on the first couple of coats of MS Primer, inspect the primer, in the sense of if area's have got primer on it, you know it has to be painted,

3.4 Go and inspect the car once the primer has been flatted, look for inperfections, if your base is wrong, your final color will be too.

3.5 If the panel shop does not want to allow you all this time spent on the vehicle find another.

Hehehe, and on the resprays, I have a secret project that I AM FINALLY busy with...

Good luck Jandre, and phone if I can assist with anything..
