Any updates?

Thanks for the bump, bud. Been a bit quiet on the forum, after my images were removed after some bugs,  but yes there are updates, albeit a few!

To answer your question, here's a link to my photographer's IG page: https://www.instagram.com/lens3sa/?hl=en[/SIZE]

On to the updates then...

So in accordance to the timeline - here's a summary of things that were done, since my last post:

After the initial month of lockdown, and not driving the car as much as I had used to, it seems the time parked-off, and the short trips, had aggravated an already tired battery (last changed in MP in 2016). With no tools to view the voltage, and battery shops not in operation (for non-essential workers at least) I had decided to take a sneaky trip to the mech to have the battery checked and charged.

Occasional message would pop up, and sometimes go away after some freeway travels.

And upon switching the car off

Hawkins charger FTW!

Arranged with Xcede to have the car remapped. Yes, again. I'm not going to make a long review, or comparison, post with regards to Tuner X vs Tuner Y - as I hadn't mentioned who the previous tuner was and I've got no time for a Tuna Wars story. Those that know the vehicle personally, know that my experiences were all good, CONSIDERING THE PRICE, and the reliability was always there. I can however say that the Xcede file is much better, stronger, and more linear. The powerband is way more usable, and the throttle and low-end torque makes the car so much more enjoyable. To sum it up, the car feels, and drives, like a stock car - just with added power. That's how it should be, right? Guess it was a case of "you get what you pay for" in this instance. It really is hard to track, and compare, economy given the commutes these days, during lockdown. Trips are fairly short and within city roads. More on that some other time I guess...

Some more coding was done on the car via Carly. We coded in true/corrected speedo, digital speedometer, beeping upon locking of the car, and sport dials/gauges (requires a sensor to work which I have zero interest in doing). There were a few more nice-to-haves, such as rear daytime running lights, however we opted not to code these features in as my cars battery wasn't holding up and required frequent charges.

June 2020...

Nothing interesting, car's battery was replaced, and I had a major service done. Popped in a can of Liqui Moly Ceratec while I was at it.

One more tuner and you can match Cornel

These cars hate short runs, how cold was it getting in Durbs, the temps did help us much in Gauteng. I have also read that these no maintenance batteries can sometimes benefit from a fluid replacement and a deep recharge ( or something similar), but with the finicky electronics, I wouldn't chance it.

Haven't dyno'd yet. Don't want to scare @"Dirtydeedsman" away... again :p

Hahaha but have you really matched @"Cornel"  if you insurance company doesn't know about your stickers? :fencelook: It's been colder in recent nights and mornings but nothing comparable to Jozi. It's the first time I've ever had to replace a battery, on one of my cars, so was new to me. Will read up on the "no maint batteries" aspect for my own knowledge. Thanks for bringing that up

Speaking of stickers...

And had xHP stage 3 TCU map flashed yesterday.

And finally, coded in rear daytime running lights (old pics, seems like the lights are on)

You can try removing the battery from the car and getting a hold of a CTEK charger. Most of them have a recondition mode which could help in saving you the cost of another battery.

I actually have more stickers that need to go on....
Hows the Stage 3 on the 8spd? I am bored of the stage 1, think its time to go to stage 3

bud, rather pay a few hundred bucks extra , then have your insurance repudiate your claim for not disclosing whats been done to the car. works both ways, once disclosed, you can cover the cost of your mods to increase the value of your car should it ever be written off

Recently got some scuffs on the wheels so decided to change the look a bit and opted to go for gloss black - with a diamond-cut face.

Dropped the wheels off, at a different wheel-repair-specialist, on recommendation from a fellow fanatic and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

<a href="https://ibb.co/1qSTkBk"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/HzJqjRj/IMG-20201119-152607.jpg" alt="IMG-20201119-152607" border="0"></a>

I am now toying around with the idea of getting some spacers and lowering springs as the bakkie is looking a bit high with that diamond-cut lip...

Other than that - she's recently gone through for an oil service, new front discs and pads, and a brake fluid flush.

Car is currently booked in to go for the ZF tranny service and to get the dampener pulley replaced.

ZF has advised me that their Durban branch cannot change the diff oil as they do not have some "special tool" to correctly drain it. So this means I will have to do this elsewhere. Any idea what fluid, and quantities, I should get?
