Almost forgot that this thread existed :Biglol:
It's nearly been a year of ownership with, what's been, the best daily I've ever had. So to keep things in order of the timeline - here's how the last year has been...
I decided to go for the xHP TCU flash. Spoke to my tuner to have it arranged, only to find out that there was a miscommunication, between their internal parties, and they had flashed a stage 2+ ECU map onto my car. Glad that I didn't have any issues after this. I opted to keep the map, at no cost to me, on for a few months. The car had a lot more power and felt stronger on the top end. No dyno results to prove anything, but butt-dyno felt good. I eventually went back down to the, milder, stage 2 file that I initially had. This was purely down to poor fuel economy on the stage 2+ file. A forum member will be hooking me up with the xHP flash after I pay a visit to ZF, whilst their special is on.
For those that don't know the F10's exhaust setup, it only has one box, being the muffler. I decided to go for a muffler delete, whilst leaving the rest of the OEM piping in place. Thoughts? Well, the car is very well insulated, so you do not hear any loud, unbearable, noise or drone inside the car. It is very loud outside though. Goes down well on those days when you wanna roll the windows down and act childish =)

It was then time for wheel alignment. Nothing interesting here other than test fitting some 20" reps. Chose not to buy them, and I'm glad I made that decision.. More on that a little later...
General maintenance followed after this, just as I ticked over 120k KMs. Usual oil service, along with brake pads (yes, again :fencelook: )
Naturally, after doing alignment, a wild pothole appears...
Dirty wheels at it's finest...
And this is why I am glad I did not get the 20" reps. These wheels are obviously a lot stronger than I had anticipated them to be.
Golf R that hit the same pothole - irreparable damage to the wheel which had to be replaced...
For those that are wondering, this was somewhere along the N2 in Durban, North bound, before the Springfield offramp. The repair was carried out by Total Wheel Rebuild where I was informed that 2 other wheels were slightly buckled so we attended to 3 of the wheels.
Then came the next, small interior, mod. Changed out the footwell lights, from the aged yellow halogen bulbs, to LEDs. Inexpensive purchase from a Chinese store. It has a lot of effects that do not belong in any car, such as fading/pulse/strobe etc along with different colours. I have just set mine to red, to match the rest of the amber ambient lighting.
Some potato pics as I was playing around...
And the current preset:
I was then greeted by this on my way home - which resulted in my first "plug" on one of the tyres..
Thankfully I have a mobility kit and tyre weld - as I am rocking non rft tyres without a spare wheel :fencelook:
Then came along my first "mechanical issue" that I've had with this vehicle. Saw the coolant low light for the first time, thought it was arb, as I've never seen it before. Went to the garage to find out that the car was running on sweat. Topping up the coolant was making no difference to the levels and I had realized that about 4 litres, of newly filled fluid, had found its way to the bottom of the engine bay, and the floor, in less than a minute.
This was an inexpensive fix and was remedied, after a pressure test, by changing out this part:
......And onto the good stuff; PICS :smilebouce:
