Thanks bro. Will look into that.Nice work! As a 320i owner, just make sure the coolant pipe replacement is done .There is a recall on this from BMW.
From what I have seen from remapping, you have to remap the gearbox too change the Torque limit settings.Howzit Charlton, kudos on the ride man, she looks and sounds beastly. Quick question, with the work done on the car, did you have to make any adjustments to the gearbox to accommodate the extra power?
320i B48 is actually fun to drive.Sport plus and 8speed ZF works well. Diesel not for me after I test drove one.Maybe 330d but they like hens teeth for a good one.320i does 6.3 litres per 100km Jozi to Cape Town. Which is ok,980km on a tank is ok for me. Plus the exhaust crackles nicely for a 320i.Thank you.
Comparing consumption between the B48 and e90 320d lci would be a bit unfair. The e90 used to get 5.3l/100km and the B48 gets 8.6l/100km in the same conditions around town. I am not to concerend about fuel economy. I just came from a 3.6l v6 Pentastar so anything else is economical.
I opted for petrol and not a diesel this time for the fun factor and exhaust note. Power delivery is different. The 320d had that kick back into your seat sudden torque from 1500rpm until 4500. Put the B48 gearbox in sport and car in sport plus and it just keeps pulling. Its not the fastest thing in the BMW stable but it works for my needs till I can afford a B58. With the B48 I am actually having more fun than I did in the e90. Took it to the same twisty road 2 weeks ago and had a grand old time.
The ZF shines on the long road, just shift gear lever to Sport and Over take.Thank you for the kind words bro. Yes that is my understanding on the tune as well. I haven't been able to use the car much since the tune and service till last Friday.
I just done a trip to the Northern cape (1400km round trip). My cousin and myself. Three 14 inch tires, our bags, a bunch of tools, parts. oil and coolant (we had to go rescue a aunt's car). Left Friday morning at 6h30 and needed to make up some time as we only had what would be left of Friday once we got there and Saturday (making some time to have fun as well) I had some fun with a c350 on the way as well.
Managed 8.6l/100km down and coming back did 9.1l/100km at some speeds I cannot mention here. My biggest down fall is chasing the exhaust note since the downpipe and tune.
I poured a bottle of deposit cleaner in the tank on the back. Dallying since Monday I achieved 7.1l/100km to work and back. That's just driving according to Cape Town traffic.
Yeah I agree 100%. ZF box is awesome. Do it bro. You wont regret it and your turbo will love the downpipe too.The ZF shines on the long road, just shift gear lever to Sport and Over take.
Downpipe sounds tempting to do
I am looking at putting in extra bass, connecting a downfiring subwoofer in the boot.
Hey budNice work! As a 320i owner, just make sure the coolant pipe replacement is done .There is a recall on this from BMW.
Whenever i go through this process with my cars.., i dont want to drive it.., just want it to remain clean and stare at it lolI haven't seen my car this clean ever.
I keep staring at it. Especially the head lights and rims. The paint wasn't bad at all although I can see an improvement
LOL I had the same problem this morning but 42km is a bit far to walk to work LOLWhenever i go through this process with my cars.., i dont want to drive it.., just want it to remain clean and stare at it lol
Best would be to start your own topic/ threadGreat thread guys! Congrats on the vehicle, looks clean. I recently purchased (July 2023) a 2018 320i, currently at 60k km, motorplan till June 2025.
Was wondering if there's any obvious stuff I should be on the look out for prior to the plan expiring? Thanks in advance
