The badges are on. I must say that I prefer these to stock. I think they look wicked. I'm still pissed off at the guy who advertised these on bid or buy. He's durban based but out of my way so I used the courier. Only after I deposited the amount I was contacted via email stating that there is no steering wheel badge and there's no stock anytime soon. He did offer to refund the amount for the steering wheel badge or send a keyring instead. My point is how can u advertise a product that u don't have stock of.

Anyway Easter weekend I had some time off and I managed to wash, clay and wax my car. Back breaking job. She still needs a polish as there's some light scratches and swirls but I'm happy for now. The paint is smooth as glass. A lot of contamination was on the back. The top of the rear bumper and back of boot lid. The rims were also clayed and waxed.

Update:

I ordered leather steering wheel cover from aliexpress a while ago. It was the appdee one with m tri color stitching but it never came. I was refunded though. At the end of August I ordered another one from a different supplier and it only arrived today. I just did a test fit and it looks good. No time to fit it maybe next week.

I am with the help from the wife. What I want to do is remove the steering wheel so it's easier to work with. I did watch a couple of videos on how to remove the wheel. Just not sure if the bolt needs to be torqued or not.

Update

Last week Friday I gave it shot. Watched a few videos. Took almost the entire day with the steering wheel on the car. My mistake was putting the two way tape all around the rim of the wheel. It made it hard for the leather to stretch around the rim. Tried to remove the tape but it wouldn't come off. Removed the cover and rubbed some some oil over tape for it to loose its stickiness. It's a very tight fit. I give it a 99% fit. Reason is that it is about 3mm short where the seams ( smooth leather and leather with holes) meet. Ending up snapping the thread a few times luckily they give you 5m thread.

A few days later the creases at the 9 o clock and 3 o clock got worse ( 2nd Pic). So today I had to fix it. This time I removed the wheel. Undid the stitching a little bit and knotted it. Then used the tape to stick down the leather where the creases were to get it smooth. This resulted in the leather at the back not meeting. But anyway it's at the back and no one is gonna see it. I'm very happy with the results. Steering wheel feels soft and looks new.

I think one should always remove the steering when trying this. Even though the leather doesnt meet, it looks way better.

It's been a while since I updated the thread. Mileage is 140 300 km. I got some maintenance planned for my car. The front discs need replacing. The pads still have about 70% life but the discs have a lip of about 3mm and I'm getting a steering vibration on hard braking at high speed. Got disc from bmw at R1050 each. Brake pads I got from Torre parts for R1400 front and rear. The CBS shows 13000km left on the rear pads so I decided to get it as well. Sensors I got from Goldwagon. Got the vibration damper pulley and 4 bolts from bmw as mine has fine cracks. I was told by the guy in parts department that there's two different size v belts (1782 and 1697) and I need to check on my belt which one I have.

Still need to get new shocks. The ride has gotten harder and very bumpy. Also waiting for the rfts to wear out so I can put normal tyres. Other than that the car runs great.

Nice work bud, well maintained car!

I am also due for a change of pads on the 320d.. I blame the exhaust system for the fast wearing down of the pads :fencelook: Managed to source Textar pads from Durban Brake and Clutch (R1.5k), also getting the sensors from Goldwagen. I have the dampener pulley + bolts in my cupboard, bought it when the agents had it on special. Figured I'd get the belt when I am going to fit.

I need to sell my style 285's and buy some non RFT's for the style 287's I have in the garage.. Pretty costly when you want to do everything all at once. :hammerhead:
