one of them is 300km range based on the Irene weather radar

the other is 75KM based on Irene...look for the 3 letter words CUL (Culinan)
PTA (Pretoria)..HLA (Lanseria)..HTB (harties)..BAP(Bapsfotein)..SPR(Springs)..SOW(Soweto)

the thunderstorms just passed now, started at around 15h00 in Mafikeng/Gaberone districts....they matured and moved eastwards losing strength passing SunCity area, but as the clouds approached the Magalisberg ridge, uplift took place and gave them a second breathe, such that after passing the Magaliesberg ridge they had become intense again, and Lanseria/Hartebeespoort seemed to get the worst.

as the cells moved eastwards, the concentration towards JHB and East Rand rapidly collapsed, leaving only a heavy concentration towards PTA CBD, and shortly after it hit the PTA CBD it collapsed again that by the time it reached Cullinan it was almost gone completely.

So most of us got off very lightly tonight

Hiya

Not too much of a long term prediction guru, but once the weaher physical starts to develope I can track it and give warnings about to about 1.5 - 2.0 hrs depending on which way the weather moves and developes.

WeatherSA sometimes err's on the cautious side w.r.t. warnings.

another weather site I follow, even though the updates are at best every 15 minutes and not so "close-in" radar imagery ( www.weatherphotos.co.za )

and they think todays forecast is more out towards the Lowveld

So far today it seems to be clear skies, the image below should be a "moving" GIF image , whereby you can play the file to see the last hours movement, and evident is nothing is developing at all......YET

OK so it doesn't "run" in movie mode after it was posted
