Service oil, I only use Motul in all my cars, oil filter, cabin filter and Vanos seals.
Also got a set of Maxtrac Coilovers seeing as my Front shocks need replacing.

So this weekend I tackled Monica, with some service work and mods.
Turned out good and bad.

Coilovers were fitted, quite the job without a air wrench but got it done, was suprised to find that all 4 oem shocks were knackered and I need two new stabilizer bar links, they are shot.

Did a oil filter change, oil change and cabin filter change. Cabin filter was filthy.

Then the bad part, Ive been getting random Engine failure lights that pointed to the Vanos units, reading up on a few DIY's on forums I ordered the new seals and cleaned them.

But the cleaner I used was too strong it seems and buggered up the Vanos units even more, so now I need to get new ones.

Now the Engine light comes on right away after starting her up.

Aargh, no, that sucks dude.

What cleaner did you use ? For future reference?

They call it "BUSTER 007".
I have been using it for years, but this time it did not work out as planned. And I even diluted it with lots of water.

Need to snap some decent pics, but you get the idea.

Turned down the coilovers more last night, think I am going to go down more in the rear and max the rear adjusters out (5mm more). The front is perfect as is.

Collected the replacement Vanos Units last night, fitted them and all is well.

Here we can clearly see where the problem lies

Here we can clearly hear what the problem is, sounds like a golf's tappets. I am honestly grateful the front piece did not come apart inside the engine.

ooooooo, love the drop.....hows the drive on the maxtrac? planning on getting those soon

Thanks bud,

The ride itself is fantastic, ten times better than my Msport suspension, was worth every cent, and did not blow the budget.

Great exhaust sound and the drop looks epic! :clapper:

Is that a straight pipe or just a down pipe muffler delete? Makes wanna go do it as well:blueCry:

Shaun, how many millimeters do you guesstimate that you lowered the front by?

How's the ride quality on bumpy surfaces?
