Congrats, looks great!
I know many dislike the new look with the larger grills, but I have always thought it looks pretty good and aggressive.

Keen to get some feedback on how it compares to some of your previous cars 😁

Great car! Congrats. After driving F90 M5's.... What set the G80 apart for you?
F90 is like an F10 but nimbler and on another level of power and comfort. The reason I couldn't walk away from the G80 is its insane level of mechanical grip (and mine is on p zero's, i cant imagine the feel once i put some michelins on). The G80 interior feels super premium and massively comfortable so I didn't feel i was sacrificing in that department by not getting an F90. Dont get me wrong the F90 M5 will walk away from the G80, but the G80 just has that edge overall in my opinion.

Although not a massive factor in the decision making process, the G80 is brand new whereas the F90 would have been a 3 year old car already.

Previous gen M3's have also never felt premium (over and above the standard 3 series models) to me nor had that jekyll and hide character that M5's have always had. The G80 M3 seems to tick all the above and corner like a nutter 🤪

I had written off the G80 based on looks alone (if I had to get one it would have to be in Black or Dravit Grey) but this comment really makes me want to go and drive one. Unless you've owned an M5 before, I don't think people quite get it (certainly not from a few quick blasts).

Something never quite clicked for me with the new cars even though between R1 and 1.5M for a used one, I think they are totally worth it. Partially at least (and @FiRi@Rennzport + @Neven and I have had some discussion around this) my M5 is now pretty much made to my liking and far faster than a stock one so the delta vs. the stock F90 Comp apart from standing starts is not as great, let alone all the other bits... Standing starts matter so little to me I even sold my Dragy this week LOL. The other though is that there is just a tad too much smoothness and luxury and effortlessness than we are probably used to in an M5. It sounds like the G80 is that missing link (if I am not putting words into your mouth here, so correct me if I am LOL)

Like the F10 never really "replaced" the E60 (or the E60 the E39 for that matter), I feel like the F90 has not really replaced the F10 either. You could have a collection of all of these cars and find reasons to drive each IMHO. Part of the reason I find it difficult to let cars go is because one of my purchase criteria is whether I would be satisfied if this was the last car I would ever own... I somehow think I could bring myself to trade in that F90 one day... but not the others (difficult to explain why).

I absolutely felt the same about the looks when I first saw one but it's all about the angles with the new shape. Looks being subjective for sure, everything seems to have a function and purpose with the G80 and it really is a good looking purposeful shape once you physically stand in front of one and take it all in.

I couldn't agree with you more. You could never go wrong upgrading to an F90 and it'll put smiles on your face all day long but the AWD and luxury make the car easier to drive hard and closer to the limit whereas the F10 demands more of your concentration and respect. The G80 is as you say the missing link :)

F90 with carbon ceramic brakes and Mperformance coilovers and exhaust really brought it up to that slightly harder, aggressive feel I look for in a car. Absolutely beastly performance too. But I personally wouldnt put one on the same shopping list as G80 M3. F90 is too much of a spacious, comfortable (!!), luxury sedan with big power on tap that it delivers like a car much smaller than its size. E63S. Panamera. RS6/7 territory.

I replaced my F80 M3 Comp pack with a C63S Coupe. F80 was only truly enjoyable on the limit. A VERY quick car when driven hard that keeps you on your toes. But other than flat out driving, it was otherwise a lacklustre, just OK drive that bored me. Mine had the Mperf exhaust and coilovers and still didn't really reward me with some emotion during normal driving. The C63S has that aways wired alertness and growl that's intoxicating. And I hope the G80 does also because I want to want one. I like the looks, it just has to deliver on the feel. All the newer M cars have to... They seem to have all diluted the "experience" somewhat.

Enjoy the G80 Stephen.... Will await your 6 month review! 😁
