Last night I received this sms from the municipality warning of severe storms today staring from 12h00 until 23h00. While on my way to work i heard a report on the radio of a warning also.

Seems like it could be a busy day on this thread.

will monitor
currently isollated cells at Potch/Koppies/Heilbron?franfort, small, moving NE towards Gauteng
will take another 2-3 hours before they reach here

When SA weather service sends out these alerts its 90% of the time nothing to be concerned about.

Heavy rain and an isolated patch of hail about the size of jelly tots

I still dont know where the severe warning came from, they seem to be benign, normal highveld half past five thunderstorms, maybe they issued a warning to cover their own backsides

Was stuck in a serious hail storm yesterday around 5:45pm in Randburg.

Cars were pulling off the roads looking for shelter. hail was bigger than pea size but not big enough to create any damage. was still scary tho. I had no idea what i was about to get myself into when i left work yesterday.

Was done in about 5-10 minutes.

will sure keep an eye on this thread before leaving today.
