I had seen the post about 10% and just left it... not wanting to literally have to show someone they can't read for the second time... but since you mentioned it - exactly this. It is BS and this dude keeps buying it... or maybe it's just bait? It must surely be at this point? They are totally at fault (based on the information on hand). They know they are on the hook for the cancellation costs and that is at least part of the reason they are going out of their way to fix this at their cost. The WBC situation was also absolute horseshit. Just a little common sense and life experience would have gone a long way and it actually isn't his fault entirely since the parents are also in this movie.
Worrying about a mobility kit and wheels/tyres etc is the least of the issues at hand. All the stops on this road are basically the definition of pennywise and pound foolish. He could have bought any one of the fanatics cars available for sale and ended up better off. Throwing good money after bad or rushing into things is the order of the day as is making a decision and then hoping to hear and cherry pick the responses that support the already-made decision. I guess this is a good cautionary tale for why those sorts of discussions in the spotted for sale thread have merit to them in terms of dealer and individual car red flags that are literally visible in pics. I think Mr Krabs knows we will decimate this car when more pics are posted hence there are only two dealership pics that look suspiciously clean for a 60000+km commuter/rep/cheeseboy's first car.
Trying to spend R80K to fix a R60K car because of sunk costs on maintenance... and then doing it... on an E90 320i of all things... then still buying another car?
Paying for comforting lies with reports is not research. This is despite us basically needing to receive commission from Vindocs at this point and having a forensic investigation team in that 'cars for sale' thread... and a whole Coisman to help check records. Even then, the report notes that the wheels are damaged.
The solution was then spending R400K on an already old BMW to be thinking of financing... a 118i of all things... bought sight unseen for some inexplicable reason.... allegedly because runflats are absolutely essential and nothing else apparently has runflats... but then buys one without runflats... and then is somehow OK with the tyres but is worried about the buckled rims

.
The needs include reliability, resilience and safety driving through dangerous areas but a R400K BMW with a replacement cost of double that is somehow not going to attract attention?
And failing all that, just from a practicality/cost perspective may get one R26K time based extension and a further, say R44.5K Mileage+10000km time based extension that will need to be paid for in cash. This is not on an M or M Performance car again... it's on a 118i. After this it will be cash or 'warranty' repairs while they will still be paying the bank for 2-3 years after its plan expires. I do feel like zero lessons have been learned between E90, WBC and this 118i.
I am sure I am not the only one that has walked away from red flags before (or negotiated based on the red flags) rather than bending over and asking for more. I have also walked from deals where everything was literally done but the dealer pulled a fast one on the numbers (In one case over R2500, though I was already fed up at that point... and I watched as the car sat for another 6 months on autotrader). I wonder why these tactics exist because surely nobody falls for them or tolerates them - but then there are situations like this and it's actually clearly because they work on more people than we think.
As for big dealers: Everyone should know by now that finding your wife in church means nothing

There are some cars that have gone from the pole to the convent... you might spot a sign or two of the past but otherwise be fooled and things will likely be fine in future. There are others that have gone from the crackhouse to the convent and the track marks are still visible everywhere. There is no hiding the past or stopping the issues it is going to bring. This is one of the latter I feel. We are still going to hear more about this car in future when undisclosed accident damage or repairs comes up.
