discussion The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions

Why not rather hou jou bek if you got nothing good to say?
Unfortunately we live in a world with toxic self absorbed people. No amount of "telling him off" will change his behaviour. People like this enjoy it when you engage with them as in their twisted minds there is no such thing as negative feedback/interaction. Their ego's will still feed off it.

I just ignore them. There are much nicer people in this beautiful world to spend my energy on.

Yes, Vindocs will give you a little bit more information. However, I do not think you need more information at this point, you need to be getting your parents money back and let them go car shopping (alone or with someone who doesn’t have BMW bias).

Example from Vindocs:

Sometimes it won't show the value:

But at least you won't have a dogshit salesman telling you there is 'nothing they are aware of' or rubbish like 'car presents well for it's age' where he thinks he is at Barrett Jackson or Pebble Beach :ROFLMAO:

I love how this guy still gives kudos to a dealer that very obviously knew exactly what they sold him :ROFLMAO:

The fact they wanted to spend the 70K in repairs means they got the car in for an absolute steal as well.
That guy is disappointing. Just shows how random the YouTube algorithm can be. He knows very little about cars guy but is the most successful car YouTuber in SA. He has access to knowledge people but he didn’t consult them when buying his car.

Bank has been informed and they are just waiting to see if this can be resolved to BMW compliance or not.

There are channels with multi-100K subscribers that wound up in my feed and they are just folks getting access to elite estates and driving through them... great for security and privacy 🤦‍♂️

Emptor caveat.

A 1 series is not premuim, Audi is not premuim. "Shit like this", you mean buckled rims, something BM's do when you just look at them skeef? Chinese tyres, ehm the dealer has zero obligation to you to install anything other than road legal and in conformance to the cars requirements. BMW's are not exclusively sold with RFTs especially on the FWD platforms so you assuming it should have RFT's is just that your assumption.

I find this whole debacle laughable. Poors gonna be poor.

Are you perhaps referring to "caveat emptor"?

If you going this route, this wont end well. Just cancel the deal...there is no compliance here, that car needs to go back.

Sorry this happened but damn it, hard to find honest dealers these days...

This thread should be called "The road to hell is paved with good intentions".

Shame man, tried to help his folks, got f'ed by dealer. But now is the time to learn - cancel the deal and move on. Even a kick in the balls stops hurting eventually.

Resolved to BMW compliance - if the car has so many issues already, what compliance will you get now and how will it guarantee excellence?
I see, I don't think it will happen then. Bank says wait still. We sent them Audi this email:

Good afternoon.

I hope this message finds you well.

Following a recent discussion with BMW South Africa, we’ve received confirmation regarding several critical compliance concerns with our vehicle's motor plan. Based on the vehicle's VIN, BMW has specified that the car is originally equipped to use only RUN FLAT, star-rated tires. The use of non-star-rated or non-run-flat tires not only places the car at risk of voiding the motor plan but may also lead to safety and performance issues. Additionally, there is concern over x3 rims that show signs of prior repair; BMW has pointed out that any unapproved third-party repairs like Mag Master could further affect components such as the shocks, control arms, and related systems.

Reviewing the motor plan terms on BMW’s website, section 8 of the contract states (Clause 8.1.1) that any unauthorized modifications, repairs, or maintenance without written consent from BMW will void coverage, as specified under Clauses 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. I’ve also attached a copy of the motor plan checklist, which reiterates in item 4a that BMW disclaims liability for any damage arising from the use of non-approved or non-star-rated tires, effectively forfeiting coverage for suspension and drivetrain components.

Additionally, BMW South Africa raised concerns regarding aftermarket headlight bulbs, which could impact motor plan validity for any issues related to the headlights or associated systems. They have informed us that they will be investigating further with BMW Bloemfontein.

As these issues were not disclosed before purchase in Cape Town and given that we bought this car with the intention of extending the motor plan, the potential voiding of coverage for these critical areas is deeply concerning. Investing R390,000 only to face the risk of a voided plan is unreasonable, especially given BMW’s apparent difficulty in addressing or resolving these issues directly.

In light of this, we are formally requesting that either Audi Bloemfontein or BMW Bloemfontein cover the costs to restore the vehicle to meet BMW's motor plan standards. These restorations must be completed through BMW’s authorized service network to ensure compliance.

The BMW must be properly inspected and written in paper of compliance to ensure the integrity of the MP and for it’s later extensions.

If these compliance issues are not addressed, then the vehicle was effectively sold with unadvertised defects, and we will seek to return the car under CPA & contact MIOSA.

Please find all supporting documentation attached for reference.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Warm regards,
Mr. Krabs

Yeah, and it wasn't a third rate dealer. A brand name one....
