Finally got a display case so time to bump this thread I guess. Some of these have taken abuse over the years. I have to get one more of these...

Originally my dad's collection - started back in 1997... I contributed a few cars over the years.. When he passed 2 years ago, I took it over, and the bug bit properly.

I've added another 35 or so 1:18 cars, and have a few more on the way.

There's also a new display case being made for the 1:43's currently in the left-hand cabinet, which will free up some space for more of the larger scale cars.

Sorry for potato phone pics with loads of glare - need to get the camera out and snap some proper shots - but still got other work to do in the man cave.

Wow wee! Coming to rob u dude! Awesome stuff

Will post more pics when I am ready to display it. I am very happy with the detail and the beautiful gold foil decals which the pics don't capture.

Where the best place to shop for BMW scale models?

Like sneakers, IMHO it is cheapest at the dealer at launch ('as they drop'). These models are made by Minichamps/Paragon/other well known die-cast or resin brands. People hang onto them for years or charge premiums for well kept ones. Cheapies are usually damaged or poor castings or not limited.

If you are willing to risk transport, then ck-modelcars.de - lots of limited editions too

There are many shows that used to happen pre-covid that I used to go to with my son. I found quite a few things I wanted quite inexpensively at these (and if you're buying 2 or 3 models from a guy you can negotiate a bit). This does attract some of the hoarders though, and you might find the same model in the same condition at R2000 non neg at one guy who 'knows what he has' and then R750 halfway round the exhibit.

There is an elite diecast facebook group as well, but not particularly active.

Keen to hear what others use too
