hello all,

just a quick introduction, ive lurked on the forum here for a while and owned a nice e46 323ci for the last 2 years, and recently traded it for an e39 540i 6speed manual:=):
my e46 never interested me like the 540i does (just personal preference), so im very keen to get some help on the forum here and learn more about the car/cars and get more involved:thumbs:
so,
my names Andreas, im extremely interested in japanese cars and always will be, but after owning a bmw you pick up on what all the fuss is about, and they are just amazing cars that i couldn't do without

even before i got my 323ci i wanted an e39 540i, i loved the bolder more muscular stance of it over the e46, as well as the ride, the engine etc etc i could go on and on, i must say i loved the handeling of the e46, the 540i is lets say different..

but more to the point,
the 540i i got is silver, black leather, dark brushed metal look trim, exhaust, headers, chip (not sure which), and apparently some headwork (not sure what), but the car goes very nicely and is in from what i can tell in good condition, there are a few small issues like the aircon working intermittently, a power steering leak, small little interior exterior bits need small attention but overall im very happy with the car, more in love to be honest, it really is just such a fine piece of machinery :inlove:

here are some pics i took after a wash last night,
some interior pics to follow when i take them later,

Welcome buddy

Nice machine you have there :inlove:

The aircon issue you're experiencing is a common fault on the E39. In majority of the cases the culprit is the final stage resistor ( FSR ), which is quite easy to remove and replace. The part will set you back approximately R1500 from the dealers

so let me see...

firstly, will try find out if its the final stage transistor, thanks

the car came with m5 wheels with 245 - 265 bridgestones, and the car had nice grip with those but part of the deal for the car was that the guy kept his wheels, so i got these style 33's for R1500 in pretty good condition as temporary wheels,

yes this was bmwforlifes old car

the traction with these wheels is quite scary in the corners and very fun in a straight line, spin galore:rollsmile:

lastly thanks for all the kind words and wishes, really aprreciate it:praise:

here are the interior pics:
