UPDATE : Here are the dyno results and list of all mods i've played with on my Yellow BMW E36 1998 328iM
__NOTE : Measured at the rear wheels...in 3RD gear..!
1. freeflow exhaust (bonnet closed)
2. freeflow exhaust (bonnet open)
3. m50 inlet manifold
4. m50 inlet manifold
5. simota filter (bonnet closed)
6. simota filter (bonnet open)
7. debaffled airbox (bonnet closed)
8. debaffled airbox (bonnet open)
9. IAT & Big Bore Throttle Body
10. IAT & Big Bore Throttle Body
11. IAT & Big Bore Throttle Body
12. SIMOTA Turbo Ventilator
I also toyed with lower profile tires (235x40x17) at the rear. I could not see any improvement on the dyno chart.
However, the time it took the dyno to accelerate was marginally quicker (0.1 to 0.2 seconds)
i.e. start(2500) to final(6000) RPM - implying an improvement on the drag strip.
This is actually a cool test as drag strip response time (me) was not a variable..!
