BMW Midrand has a black comp with all the bits and pieces you looking for lol
I saw it yesterday, allot of nice kit on it.

Only thing missing in my opinion is the B&W sound.

I think it's definitely necessary. You can thank the EU for the quiet exhausts. Some of the M Performance stuff is even different for the EU (or not available). I mentioned before, probably the #1 thing keeping me from buying an F90 sooner was how quiet it was - Exhaust was a major selling point. I also wanted the B&W system since I wished I had the B&O in the F10.

The next gen looks like Bowser and I can't unsee it. Will probably have the ghastly dash treatment as well. Will of course drive it and see what it's like but not holding my breath. Besides this, I am more likely to stretch to a Bentley Flying Spur for what the new M5 may cost (well what I imagine this will cost - around 3.5M base plus R4/500K in options).

Were the registration issue resolved in the end?

Yes took about 6 weeks in total then got the papers. Glad not to deal with them again.

Next thing on my list if all the stars align is an F12 (unless i grow up and decide to stop wasting money on cars).

Don't like the direction bmw is taking and not excited at all with hybrid/electric.

Saw a new 520d yesterday at midrand. Had the m sport kit on. Could be wrong but don't think the new 5 is for me.

F12 with some novitec bits is the one.

Your M5 LCI is lovely though. Perfect daily with a V12 Rarri šŸ˜Ž

Cars rarely make good financial sense.

I am down +R100k on the E92 in the last year and a bit, but happier with hearing/seeing my money LOL.

i have been down that rabbit hole of spending obscene amount of money on cars and parts. I did it when i was much younger and I don't regret it one bit because it brought me immense happiness and sense of well being ....but i wouldn't do it at this point in time as my mindset and outlook has changed.

So on the 400km drive home.

My review of the m performance exhaust.

What I wanted was it to sound like a deep throated v8.. My comparibles are my m6 which had downpipes with stock exhaust (opted to keep stock exhaust as sounded amazing) and a lumina with a straight pipe.

So I'm more into the deep bass sound of a v8 rather than the cracks and pops story, for me personally that belongs on a golf gti. I'd say you get about 30% more sound out the system. Unfortunately allot more crackle and pops in sports more, in normal mode not a massive difference.

I think the issue is the opf filters. On the late model m5s. Muffles the sound too much and they have had to tune in the cracks and pops to add some excitement. If you want the best sounding m5 you have to go pre 2020.
However from what I have read the system will bed in and sound better.

It does have lovely carbon fibre tips. Little disappointed so far overall though. Hoping I get more excited.

Eish bro. Hopefully it gets louder.

Let us know how it goes long term. Spending this level of cash on a top tier ///M car and then the extras and still not being happy, ain't cool.

Yeah, pops and bangs are for sure GTI stuff, not an executive saloon.

I had the same issue with my 440i. The M performance box added almost no extra excitement to the sound. I had to go DP as well and now it’s just insane and exactly what I was looking for. Let’s hope it’s not the case with yours and it does improve after some mileage but do keep us posted.

Weirdly enough on the N55 engines the M Performance sounded fantastic and was a must have IMO.

Damn sorry bud.

For that amount of money I would be bummed as well.

Hope it sounds better after building up some carbon.

Also noticed this morning the exhaust is not level either.

Am I being pedantic or is it fair to expect this to be level?

Get them to adjust it - jeez - after spending 113K and they install it skew! For my Akrapovic on the prior car they kept sending me pics of measurements on whatsapp to make sure it was right!! For the M performance suspension on the F90 they did the same: Flood of pics with measurements on the bench as well as on the floor and floor to fender etc. Attention to detail seems to have left the building (or country)šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I have a 2019 so probably not affected by the more muted sound. Definitely has some burbles but nothing like a map or pops and bangs tune. My neighbour 2 houses down can hear the car starting up (though cold start is always cold). I've been happier with this by far than the Akrapovic on my F10 (before downpipes).... BUT the deep old school lopey V8 sound is not a BMW thing I'm afraid. In fact many were happier with the sound on the last gen 550 than F10 M5 from that perspective because it had a different exhaust manifold design. Tradeoffs I guess.

Make them re-adjust it.

I would also request the exhaust tips to be brought out a little more, they far too in.

When the car is cold, and exhaust is cold, it should be sitting in line at the very least to the diffuser portion on top of them
