The bottom spoke is solid on the M one(split on the sport one) and it has the small nudges at 9 & 3, which the std sport has not got.

Here is a standard M-sport steering wheel, for both E46 and E39:

Besides the split spoke at the bottom (which is not msport but rather facelift model or individual model [I stand corrected]), the only difference I see are the "horns" at 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock.

The msport wheel has three solid spokes with the m-badge on the lower spoke.

The wheel you have looks to be like something out the M3, but not the standard one. Perhaps an optional? Or a later model M?

Anyways, wheel looks good. Suits the car :thumb:

I think this wheel is an promotec wheel?

"Horns" at 2 and 10 I don't or is there another budge lower down?

I will measure the e39 M's wheel this evening when I get home, almost convinced it has smaller diameter.

Look at your wheel and look at the one I posted. Yours has horns lower down, at 8 and 4 o'clock.

Replaced the tie-rods and rear-trailing arm bushes this weekend. The tie-rods where easy, the RTAB not so much(I was very highly strung Saturday night after no success the whole day). Sunday morning I could not find a bush press(midas, autozone) anywhere nor a pipe stop large enough(builders, cashbuild). I gave up my search and decided to just make a plan at home. Got a washer(looked more like a cup of sorts) in the "washer drawer" that matched the bush in size before compression (I sang in praise). I got some high tensile bolts/nuts from builders earlier. Made a DIY bush press using the washer/HT bolts/nuts and some angle iron. This worked well to get the bush seated. I then used the gear puller to do the rest of the job(problem with using the gear puller from the start was that the bush did not "slide" in evenly, it did not want to go in straight).

I also got some rtab limiters from Axis, these are made of "unotainiam" aka a bearing grade self lubricating high-density polymer. I read a bit about these on the overseas forums, so I thought I would try it. What they do is limit the movement of the bush to helping with toe deflection, so the arse should be more stable under accelation(load).

Had the aligment done this afternoon, and the car feels great. Handling is good(turns in well), the arse does feel more "connected" and acceleration does feel stronger(not faster just better).

Next weekend I will do a brake bleed, got some Motul 660 racing brake fluid, just incase. The 28th I will take it to Zwartkops :fencelook: if nothing goes wrong.

The pics:

8mm mild steel plate shaped to press evenly on bush and clear housing.

Gear puller with 8mm mild steel to allow for an even push.

New bush in place.

WP_20160207_023.jpg

Axis limiters

WP_20160207_025.jpg

Getting everything back together again, not so easy, you need push with both hands on the either side. Got to wiggle it into place :roflol:

WP_20160207_027.jpg

Limiters and mounting bracket in place. The deflection(when twisted by hand) was significantly less compaired to the old bush.

WP_20160207_031.jpg

Everything back where it belongs.

P.S I still need to do the swaybar(upfront), then the whole front is new and fresh. On the rear I will not replace the end links and swaybar bushes just yet.
