ConCourt ruling on Nkandla - Your thoughts?

So Judge Mogoeng handed down judgment that both JZ and the National Assembly flouted their constitutional obligations and acted illegally. The DA has now moved to begin impeachment proceedings against JZ, but the sad reality is that we have a President and a National Assembly who have, time and time again, demonstrated their complete disregard for (a) the constitution and (b) their constituents. The Speaker will allow the debate on Impeachment, and it will even go to vote, but nothing will happen to JZ. His goons and cronies in the National Assembly will protect him for as long as they are able PURELY based on their own self interest, and more importantly, self preservation. Without JZ to protect and pamper them they would stand to lose the plush lifestyles and powers which they have become accustomed to. While the ruling today was both vindication as well as victory for the opposition it will also be yet another opportunity for the ANC to show how badly they have lost touch with reality and how little respect they have for (a) the law and (b) the people of this country.

This is certainly a watershed moment for the NEC of the ANC. They have to act one way or the other now. No more fence sitting.

If they (and the caucus in parliament) do not recall or impeach Spear Zuma now, then the message that will be sent is a large middle finger extended not only to the people of the country but to the judiciary and constitutional court.

However, let's always remember the difference between a caucus and a cactus....... the cactus has the pricks on the outside!:=):

I don't see Zuma being impeached. The ANC caucus is told how to vote and/or they will be scared shitless to oppose Zuma, as we've seen previously. The fact that the police ministers report was used by parliament instead of the PP report proves just that.
Also when the NEC came out of their conference these last few weeks spewing the same BS we've seen for years, it meant Zuma has more 'yes men' in the ANC than we thought. Although, we have seen more ANC cadres speak against Zuma recently, I don't think the NEC wants to recall another president (because Mbeki). Guptas or no Guptas, Nkandla or no Nkandla Zuma is not going anywhere.

My 2cents on Motsepe and mines in general. Yes, the state owns the mineral rights but does not have capacity to exploit them. The mining companies then come in and mine, process, sometimes beneficiate and sell these minerals. They then pay company taxes and mineral taxes to the government, which is how the state makes money from these minerals. They do not own the mining rights, the state can take away these rights, eg. Central Rand Gold a few years ago (although it was given back after they met all requirements), if it is of no benefit to the state.
Also look at the direct and indirect employment that this generates... but that's another discussion altogether.

That's all good & well but I am not for the 1 man making massive benefits while the masses suffer

Zuma's stints as president is littered with inappropriate action as a president & he is STILL THERE.....arms deal, the shower washing off aids thing, his million wives, & having more relations with women, cant read numbers off a speach, cant read a speach, inappropriate use of grammer (ok English is not his 1st language BUT HE IS PRESIDENT & supposed to be smarter than that), his terrible dance moves, landing planes for his puppet masters at secure millitary bases, allowing those sought by the International Criminal court to come & go as they please, total lack of respect for public protector, constitution, people of South Africa.....there are more that we can mention but JEEZ this guys is a crook & he survives every single time

In 1st world countries the judicial system is the law, unfortunately the judicial system is just a pawn in African politics. I admire the conviction and strength of the Judge Mogoeng and the concourt, we need more individuals of this calibre.
