A few days ago, Ryan reached out — he wanted to fit brand new OEM EDC shocks to his E89 Z4 35i. We agreed he’d drop the car off on Sunday (most convenient for him), and I’d get the work done on Monday.
🛡️ Preparation
On Sunday, he arrived with all the new BMW parts:
🔧 Front Shock Replacement
💻 Diagnostics & Test Drive
🚗 Result & Feedback
Ryan collected the car later that day. I followed up afterwards and his feedback was:
“The car is feeling great. Actually feels a bit softer at the front. Just feels more planted.”
Another BMW leaving better than it came in 🙌💙

🛡️ Preparation
On Sunday, he arrived with all the new BMW parts:
- 🔧 OEM EDC shocks
- 🛞 New mounts
- 🛑 New bump stops
- Added protective covers to seat, steering wheel & footwell
- Moved the Z4 onto the lift and removed the wheels
🔧 Front Shock Replacement
- Removed the old front struts
- Disassembled everything — parts were dirty, so we cleaned all reusable hardware (top plates, rubber boots, lower spring pads, etc.)
- Reassembled with the new shocks, mounts, and bump stops
- Installed first the passenger side, then the driver’s side
- Engine bay was a little dusty so we gave it a quick clean up to make it look fresh again
💻 Diagnostics & Test Drive
- Ran diagnostics, generated a report with old fault codes, and cleared them
- Short road test confirmed everything was spot on ✅
