So after a couple of weeks of work I ended uo with this...

Stock one weighs 14.9kgs
Carbon 3.7kgs

Great work, can see one consistent weave and doesn't look like any waves etc... Very well done. I tried to do some skinning and it's not easy by any means!

Thanks, It has been and still is alot of work and trail and error.

Also want to try skinning sometime soon but for actual Carbon parts it's a steep learning experience.

Impressive work! Do you know roughly what the car weighs now?

I'm guessing 1300s I have taken out roughly 230-250kgs.

Online claims 1470-1540kgs depending on dct and options.

But I need to actually try and get the car weighed. I think with Carbon doors, Bonnet , Fenders and Lexan glass I might be able to shave off another 50KG.

However the splitter and roll cage is gonna add quite some weight back.

Just looked at this...wow, I need to buy you guys a beer...Awesome work and I can very much believe the 5 weeks work it took...If you had to estimate, roughly how much did this cost you? Did you buy the vacuum equipment etc especially for this project?

So Yes bought all this actually for those first pieces and then we thought lets try something bigger.

Cost wise I would say probably 15-20k there abouts.

Carbon Bonnet is on the list I first just need to find a clean one without holes in it. Next Carbon part will probably be Door cards and maybe wing mounts.

The splitter will at first just be out of Marine ply and if I can get it 3D scanned I can try get CFD data on it.

2. I ordered a GTX3584RS Gen 3 for the car paired with a 44mm Tial wastegate, So the plan is to convert the car to a single turbo setup hopefully in the coming weeks.

After that is said and done the plan is to Tackle the Rear wing mount and do a splitter and hopefully make it to the next race event in June.

Very cool project and looking awesome. If you ever need something prototyped or molds made, I own a couple 3D printers and can assist in whatever way possible. Will soon have a CNC also capable of aluminium cutting too.

So my Turbo arrived and I got a Tial 44mm wastegate and BOV to pair with it. Hopefully the clutch keeps up till the single mass flywheel arrives.

And the sump baffle, is that a good fix for oil starvation? You seem to have been tracking the car quite a bit and the baffle seems to be working for you. The S55 oil pump conversion is pricey at 3500 USD without install. If the baffle can get the Job done then I would go for that.

I just got curious as I am migrating to the UAE next month. I currently drive a 640i grande coupe and love the car.

But while in the UAE i am strongly considering getting a 640i coupe and turning it into a dedicated track car coz why not . It is also N55 powered and will be unique inits own way as noone has really done that. Cars are dirt cheap in the UAE so that is another motivation then get hit the circuits that side.

I pretty much would be using your thread as a guide for it.

I would in all honesty suggest looking for a OG m2 that side it's one of the best track toys. Or if they're E46 M3's aren't too expensive.

Or something B58 if you want power.

But yes the sump baffle with an additional 1lt of oil has proven to work for me thus far.
