As far as I know the 4-cyl's also have timing chains.

the M43 engine has a chain, the M40 has a belt and coisman, it takes about 2 hours, my brother will be helping me

My 1988 e30 318i m10 engine had timing chain. My 1992 e36 316i m40 has timing belt. My 2000 e46 318i m43 has timing chain. Dont know why they fitted timing belt to the m40 engine. My sister had hers snap and had to have head redone and the belt was only 20000km old. Replace them at 30000km or every 2years.

I just got a traffic fine on the 316 after selling it a year ago, so i called the new oner, guess what he tells me.

He could not register the car on his name because he had written it off

Now the question from my side

How can you write off a car that is slower than a 1200 fiat strada

Geussing the guy didn't know how to drive a BMW, he should go back to toyota

190 E was a nice Merc, and I am by far NOT a merc fan, dont even let friend park their mercs in my yard when they visit. Sacrilegious to spoil a BMW home..LOL..
Drove a friends 190 e when I wrote off one of my cars, wasn't to bad, comfy ride.
