The unexpected 957 Cayenne find.

This seems to be the theme for this year, "unexpected". I've casually been"looking" at potentially getting a practical SUV that I could potentially use as a daily seeing that I sold the ST, as well as take it on some adventurous weekends away, or some off-roading day trips. When I say looking, every now and then I'll scroll Autotrader/Marketplace/Gumtree and not really expect anything cool to come up.

Then last week Tuesday, I got up, made myself some coffee, and started scrolling through Autotrader. The Cayenne popped up, and the price seemed too good to be true to be honest. I had never really considered a Cayenne before, but I was intrigued. Sent the ad to my mate at Porsche Center, who also owns an E1 Cayenne that he absolutely loves. Told me it looked like a great car, and I should immediately give it a look. So that's what I did.

Went through to the dealership and of course, they had gotten loads of inquiries, with only one other person having seen the car in person. Had a look at it, took it for a drive, double checked the full service history and I was completely sold. Shook hands with the salesman, asked him if he needed a holding deposit as I know there was a lot of interest and he said no, we shook hands, the car is yours, that's how I do business. AMAZING service from them through the process of buying the car.

They did all the paperwork and the roadworthy, I sorted out payment and collected the car on Thursday afternoon. I am blown away by how great this thing is, my word. And the fiance loves it which is a bonus šŸ˜‚ I can see her stealing it on the days I work from home.

And what better way to put it through its paces than going on a weekend away into the mountains, got back yesterday afternoon and I really do love this thing. It is so so SO good, the air suspension paired with low range and locking diffs is a game changer to make off-roading a breeze! The spec is really good too, xenons, extended leather, heated sport seats, heated steering wheel, thermally insulated glass, everything. Super stoked with my purchase.

Enjoy the pics :)

Congrats! Lovely car.

My uncle took several multi-week Okavango trips with his new (at the time) 957 Turbo S, complete with 4x4 trailer and all the camping paraphernalia.

The Landcruiser, Patrol & Defender crowds obviously used every opportunity to take the piss.

To their surprise, the Porsche did everything their cars did, including deep river crossings.

By the end of the trip the convoy had been silenced

Congrats. May she give you miles of smiles.
These have become popular recently for the Off road pack that some are fitting. Like lift kits with knobbly tires, roof lights etc. looks cool.

Yours looks to be in excellent condition still.

Congrats, the 957 platform is very underrated but also takes very minimal convincing once it is out in the wild verses da 4times4 bakkie okes. Check out Porsche Cayenne Safari - South Africa on Insta for some inspo and ideas

Congratulations.
The 957 was designed to be a proper 4x4 with low range.
It is an over engineered car, in the best way possible.
With the later models, they became more road biased.
Worth watching this video:

It must sound amazing

Would this car share any parts with the first gen VW Touareg?
Ive always been curious if maintainance could eb affordable if you could source VW parts for them

Yup, like Mikhail said its basically a Touareg/Q7 with a Porsche badge.

As to costs on parts for example, engine mounts from Porsche are R10k. Touareg mounts from Goldwagen are R4500, so maintenance can definitely be affordable.

My mate at Porsche Center has clients that bring their V6 957's in for services with over 300k km and still going strong, which gives me some reassurance.
