Hi all. (lotsa pictures)
So my car has been at BMW since I bought it from them more than I care to mention tbh...but at least they've given me no nonsense about sorting out the niggles and have given me a courtesy car every time so I must commend them for that.
1. The car had a shudder on the brakes - they fitted new disks and pads in the front. Sorted after two attempts.
2. The rear bumper kept jumping out of its clip and so the boot lid closed on it making a mark. They fixed the bumper and re-sprayed it but the re-spray was not done right so second attempt now it looks perfect.
3. Vibration on the steering wheel - did wheel balancing and wheel alignment twice - now sorted.
4. The rear tires were running down on the inside to the point where the thread indicator was flush with the running service. I did inquire about the tires before I bought. They offered to take a set of Bridgestones which was from another car I assume and put it on mine. I accepted and they are on 4 and 5mm. Only down side is I now have Eagles up front and Potenzas at the back. Might sell the Potenzas to help buy a new set of Eagles so they match again.
5. Centre console had wear and tear on so they replaced it albeit from another car but it looks new so its OK.
All in all 3 months later and 3 courtesy cars later (316, 118 and X1 2.0d) I think the niggles are all sorted.
I am still on the look out for a set of 442's but I thought it a good idea to give my set of 403's a clean. Now the normal rims cleaner does not get the black stuff off the times...I think the previous owner never ever cleaned them. I bought a Dremel polishing tool with the polishing bits but even on its slowest speed its still too fast and will burn the rim's paint. I bought some fine grit polishing compound and cleaned on rim today...what you see below is almost 4 hours worth of elbow grease and I only did the outside. The inside also needs to be done as you can see the dirt through the spokes and looks like half a job. My fingers simnply could not go anymore.

Honestly I cannnot see myself do another 12 hours to do the other 3...there must be a smarter way - any advice?
Then my number plates have been bugging me big time. The front one was attached to a number plate holder which was attached to the black fitting that is attached to the bumper. First I get a new set made. Then I drilled out the rivets and removed the plastic number plate holder and cleaned everything. Then I riveted the new plate diretly on tot the black fitting that is screwed to the bumper.
The rear one is also riveted to a plastic number plate holder and the holder is screwed in to the car. The stupid plate holder moves from side to side and scratches the paint and also vibrates when you close the boot. So I removed everything...cleaned it all and used double sided take to fix the plate holder to the car along with the screws so that it doesn't vibrate and then fitted the new plate to the holder with rivets. Honestly looks so much better now. Below is the res-sprayed bumper and the new plate.
I am gonna pop past The 357 and find out about paint treatment for the car. Still on the list are: front lip, rear diffuser, side skirt extensions, 442 rims.
