I spotted this on Elite Die Cast. Decofurn Fourways had a few in stock. It is called the Ivy tempered glass bookshelf and costs R2099. I ran out of space in my garage display cabinet a while ago so got this for my office.

There are two tempered glass panels and 4 shelves. They fit 6 boxed 1:18 models per shelf. I am going to be getting display cases for the models that don't have them yet.

This looks awesome:thumbs: do any of you know who manufactures the current bmw models? I’ve noticed that the quality and detail looks much better than the ones previously made by paragon.

I have been looking for shelving options as well. Will have a look at it this weekend. What are the shelves made of and does it come fully assembled?

@"Bavs108" they are mostly made by Minichamps now (certainly the ones in my pic above - they have Minichamps logo cast into the underside of the stand). I think some of the plain models are still Paragon. Definitely no-brainers for me at the prices and given the detail. The E30 model in particular was so nicely detailed with the foil decals!

The shelving is MDF with a veneer - they have a few options. It came flat packed, but was very easy to put together. It fitted in the M5 with the seats down easily. They will assemble it for you at extra cost.

Definitely. I have the E30 and the 3.0csl homage, but I haven’t taken them out the boxes yet. There are a few more that I have my eyes on. I have 3 E30 dtm models, 1 autoart, the older mini champs variant and the current one. If I were to rank them I’d say autoart, new minichamps and then the older minichamps in that order. The older minichamps has stickers that peal and tear over time and the wheels sit in the arches don’t look as accurate.

If I’m not mistaken I think some of the road cars are now made by Norev.

Thanks I’m definitely going to check out those shelves:thumbs: I’ve been looking for something for a while now and the size looks ideal.

Had a look at those shelves at deco furniture today. They seem quite solid and well built for the price. Just deciding on what colour to get. I’m torn between the light brown and dark brown one. They didn’t have the lighter one on display though.

I've unpacked some of the new arrivals and reorganized the cabinet to hold 4 cars per shelf level.... while this does allow for another 50 or so cars to be displayed given the current lack of space, unfortunately it also means they have to face straight forward and the cars on each side are half-obscured by the bezel of the cabinet door...

A necessary evil for the time being, as the previous cabinet maker led me by nose for the better part of 2 months before disappearing off the face of the planet altogether... I've found a new one who is busy drawing up a quote, but I'm not pegging my hopes on receiving cabinets any time soon. :thumbdo:

I'll post some pics of the new cabinet layout later - but I still have nearly 60 cars languishing in boxes, waiting to be unpacked. :(

I also have these doubles up for sale... being BMW's, I figured I'd put them on the forum before going to BidOrBuy & the likes:

1:18 Kyosho E92 330i Coupe Dealer Edition --- R1600
Excellent condition. Sapphire Black Metallic with tan interior
Original gray dealer box included.

1:18 UT Models Z3 M Coupe --- R1200
***Aerial has snapped off, as per pic***
Great condition. Estoril Blue with black/blue interior.
Original gray windowed UT box included.

Pics have been plagiarised from the web, but accurately depict what you'll be getting. I'm more than happy to send pics via WhatsApp to anyone interested.

Thanks!

I have some lego models but want a sealed cabinet to display. They get so dusty, so quickly that they just end up looking dirty - any links to something like that locally for not stupid money? Potentially cheaper to just get one made?

Would anyone know the potential value for my 1:18 Kyosho E46 CSL model?

Google searches show anywhere from 60 euros to 550 USD.

Depending on the condition of the paint (Kyosho models tend to have some paint rash) - I would reckon somewhere between R3k and R4k.
