It should be fine with stock software, the VNT should still keep the boost within spec.

Will see what happens, everything obviously depends on budget and will probably only happen over the next month of two (Hopefully).

Biggest thing here is downtime when the turbo is removed, i cannot afford to sit without a car for 3+ days. And gaby only quotes once he has the turbo in his hand. If i can get a rough estimate from him then atleast i can go in prepared. This is why an exchange unit will be better but i also want billet wheel! LOL

So i assume this is one of the other reasons my consumption is a bit higher or should i say not as low as id like it to be!

Sat in traffic and went into the hidden menu, while sitting in traffic it sits around 94deg. As soon as i start driving on open road the temps starts dropping and eventually sits around 76deg. Soooo i take it i need a thermostat as well..

Will leave for now until the turbo is sorted and will then change thermostat while im in there next to it by the turbo seeing as the one water pipe needs to ge disconnecter on the thermostat housing to remove the turbo.

Plans are to replace the crank case breather as well when doing turbo if its still the loo roll type, GW has them for R550.

Based on how unpredictable turbos can be, one can appreciate Gabys approach. There's no point in pushing for an estimate and then get surprised when he says it will have to be more than double.

I also get the downtime issue, I would rather make alternative arrangements to keep you going.

Stompie I'm sitting in the same boat as you. Okay mine is not with force though. I just want a hybrid. So I'm coming from Kuruman. The car needs to go in to get stripped, then turbo must go to Gaby, i will prefer that he rebuilds the whole turbo, balance the shaft and all just for piece of mind.

The billet wheel should be fine untill you can add your supporting mods. Wheels will be a lot stronger! And honestly if you rebuild now with stock parts, you'll want to go hybrid once you modded. So do it once and get it done with.

You need to get metal polish and a rag, and then use loads of elbow grease. It will come out like chrome

Yeah true, but compared to what it looked previously and 5 min of sanding, it looks great. Used 100grit so will have to get 1500grit or 2000 and then polish.

Definitely worth the effort! When are you getting software?

Will be replacing both thermostats hopefully next weekend, then to save up for a new turbo core and only then will i start looking at software. Turbo is still good, not noisy at all so. Spoke to gaby yesterday and he says if i buy a complete new core i can just replace it myself as they come balanced.

Currenly getting around 15km/l so once thermostats are replaced i should get more power and consumption im sure.

Did a quick google, seems its a battery disconnect or transport cable when cars are being transported?

Front brake pads are worn and the handbrake light is on and the thermostat is faulty. Will be ordering some parts tomorrow from Goldwagen Delarey for delivery for this weekend.

-Main Thermostat
-EGR Thermostat
-Crank Case Breather (Vortex Style) Not sure what i currently have
-Air filter
-Front brake pads
-Pad wear sensor

In traffic i see temps going up to around 85-90deg but as soon as i start driving the temps drop to 75deg and once i hit the high way i see temps of 49deg...which is probably why performance is down and fuel consumption is kak.

Managed to get 17km/l driving to vanderbijil the other week which isnt bad but traffic driving consumption is kak...11.5km/L

Will update closer to the weekend.
