It has this rattle noise when I start it, but only when the car is cold. I drive like 50m and then it's gone. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine at the timing belt. The belt is suppose to be new since march this year.

I'm 90% sure it's not lifters as it really sounds like it's coming from the timing belt area.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but I spend a ton of money beginning of the year getting the engine into shape and something as small as this could undo all that money spent. I wanted to have the aircon fixed before summer... but I'll have to have this looked at first now...:bawling:

Both my cars make a similar noise on cold start, I just put it down to there being no oil there yet :)

I figure it might be the same, but it never did this before. Yesterday morning was the first and it was pretty load too.

Maybe just check your oil level. Are you sure it wasnt just always there, and you only actually took note of it for the first time yesterday :)

hmmm... I checked the oil last week and it was full. I'll check it again to be sure.

This is definitely a new thing.

Wish it was that simple. This morning it was more of a knocking noise. I pulled the car out the parking, drove to the gate, and then I couldn't hear it anymore. Could something be loose??

So I finally got my lazy ass in action to take some proper pics with a proper camera...
Although you can't see it in the pics, the car is actually pretty dirty with all the rain we had and so on.

are those dunlop 6000D's? I had some on the polo way back then.

err... I think they're 5000 SP sport or something like that. But it's only the front. The back has yokahama and I'm not very impressed with them.

Had some S306 Sport Yokies on the polo when it still had the 13'' rims. Couldn't really complain, but then again, a 1.4i dont really punch that much.

I find it a bit to easy to spin up the rear, especially in the rain. :mmm:
