It really does look very good! I like it..
Also true. But hopefully they choose decent spec at least so we can pick it up cheaper when they have to sell.Nick said:Bazza said:Love it! But prefer the coupe. Glad to see they're pricing the rif-raf out of from being able to buy this car.
The Rif Raff will still get massive residuals and 96 month finance...

I do hope it sells well in SA so we can have a ton of low mileage used ones at 1.5M in a couple of years. 2018 F90s are already R1.3M with under 20000km LOL. The peasant riff raff who only want to spend R1.5M on a car will be smiling.

Very true prices are dropping fast on the M5's in all honesty I don't BMW is selling them in by the dozen's. So much want though :roflol:

There is one guy at my kids school with a white one and another with a launch edition F90. I see a few driving around now and then. The M8 though I have yet to see outside of a dealer, which is strange because you find even the most obscure of cars driving around here... and this is usually "M Country". This car is excellent but it is no Porsche (certainly not the ones at those levels).
It's predecessor was R2M in the end but you could still stretch to it if you're a BMW fan and you traded in etc. that gap between R2M and 3.3M really seperates the 'men from the boys' affordability wise. You guys talk as though it's good value or if you had that money you would do it... Brand issues aside, at those levels if you're financing, it is an extra R1M+ in interest on a car that will likely depreciate R2M+ in that time (ie: ahead of whatever curve you're hoping to beat with your finance setup). There are bandaids available but you will STILL need to be properly wealthy to pull off an M8 at over R40K a month (even with a 300K deposit, great rate and max residual, you will pay over R40K a month AND then still owe R1M at the end of the 72months)
Anyway if they do sell more of them they will be amazing new buys. At the new prices I still think they are nowhere vs. what you can get from Porsche. You will also find in that 'upper atmosphere' people don't buy cars based on numbers but rather emotion and experiences and any concept of 'value' or 'being a plucky little upstart' like GT-R used to be or even M cars battling it out with Ferraris and Lambos doesn't matter... IMHO the only person that cars that your M4/5/8 has beaten a Lambo is you (or maybe the son of the Lambo owner LOL)
Finances aside you talking about financing this car when brand new, many thought the M5/M6 would be unattainable due to initial prices at launch, after a few years prices started to plummet and the cars became more attainable. So instead of paying 1.5M to 1.8M for a brand new M6 people where getting used ones for around 1m or under. Sure maybe if you in the Tender business or business man then financing a brand new M8 at 40k makes sense. But look at the M5 F90 started selling at 2M now some 2018 models are coming at R1,2M to R1,3M, give it more time and of course you will be able to pick one up 900k to 1M. Just saying that to some it may some like a dream to drive the latest M5/M6 but to the money savvy individuals that dream is a few years away.
