@osiris thanks bro. Although I haven't gone for the stage 1 upgrade at all. Just got new actuators and the wastegate rattle repair kit from Mamba. I wasn't keen on (spending even more money) chasing power at this point.

I just want the car back and want to make sure it's running properly for a couple thousand KM's before I continue with the build.

It's not about chasing power though. it's about letting the hybrids breath. By getting high flow silicon inlets you are putting less stress on your waste gates. So your waste gate duty cycle will be lower for any given boost that car is trying to target which in turn will make those waste gates last substantially longer, make the turbos generate less heat thus also last longer etc. It has a knock on effect.

Also on that car the E92, The inlets are a bastard to fit, especially the rear! So while the turbos are being fitted it is ALOT easier to fit the inlets, rather than trying to fit them at a later stage which with an E92 is almost as bad as fitting the turbos in the first place lol. This is one of those times where you part with the cash and cry later :ROFLMAO:

On the E89 it's piss easy to fit them. I can fit my entire arm behind the engine to get the inlet in. When we did Justin's car, we had the sub frame dropped and still had to jack the engine up or lower it (Can't remember) to get that rear inlet in. It was a PITA to say the least!

@osiris I hear you and agree.

But I meant I have not upgraded to hybrids. Turbos are stock.

Will consider the inlets though. Any idea who has stock available locally?

I see now they are the 10T options, so basically stock upgraded parts. I still say do the inlets!
I think there are a few options that do this locally although Justin ordered a set online from overseas, pop him a DM and ask, I am sure he can hook you up cause the price was great if I remember correctly!

@osiris no one seems to have stock on hand of the inlets here in SA and turbos need to be fitted tomorrow or Tuesday.

Looks like I'll be doing that at a later stage. Which I'm fine with at this point in time.

It’s finally back! This has been one of the most challenging journeys for me. It required tons of patience and understanding that we needed to do things the right way when it came to rebuilding the N54 in our E92 335i.

Just a quick video taking you along for the ride.

The build continues.

Huge shoutout to Janak from Solankis Auto.

And a special thank you to @FiRi@Rennzport @Jeremy @General.Massacre for all the advice allowing me to vent through out the process.

Small update.

Tye car is running really smooth with no issues!

Trying to use her as often as I can to get some mileage in for the run in service.

Shes honestly never felt this good.

Of course I haven't been pushing her or driving hard. But what a pleasure it is to drive an n54 that's running the way it should. Switching between the e92 and f30 makes me appreciate the old school heavy steering feel.

How's the dcts on these n54s. I have a n54 with 6 speed steptronic with xhp but I'm sure it can't compare
The DCT is properly quick and smooth with changes. Although from what I've read I'm sure the 6 speed with xhp stage 3 shouldn't be too far off.

Delayed update but better late than never. This was after Bimmer Nights 2024.

After attending an event in heavy rain, I needed to have the 335i washed the next day. While waiting in the wash bay the car started idling really rough and threw a CEL.

Immediately diagnosed with my Jb4 Bluetooth Connect kit and it gave the following codes :
2A87 Outlet-Vanos variable cam control test, mechanics
3100 low boost mode engaged -- CEL displayed

My heart skipped a beat thinking the car is toast again. A quick calm to Janak from Solankis who reassured me that it's probably just the VANOS Solenoids.

So here we are, another attempt at documenting a DIY on the N54.

Hope this is useful! Always difficult videoing and doing the work. But tried my best.
