My highest mileage 335i

Thanks so much, the car has been going very well apart from one item. Just the other day my turbo air inlet pipe blew off. Not a big deal, only about R2000 from BMW so I'll sort that out soon😎
Other than that I enjoy this car so much. Mine also has the Harmon/Kardon surround sound system, which is truly INCREDIBLE, it makes sitting in traffic enjoyable too, haha.

Looking forward to seeing more updated on super 335i aswell!

Transmission somehow feels perfect.
Not kidding, I don't think it has ever been serviced but there are no weird sounds, it's extremely smooth and in manual mode still shifts like a DCT 😂

N55 and ZF-8 are a very reliable couple.

The Harmon Kardon system is marvelous indeed.

My car is on 143 000km and hope to still own her till past 200 000kms.

Only things the car has had replaced is some gaskets here and there. and alternator, pulley belt and pulley tensioner.

Yes, still the original turbo. The car makes boost extremely well, it doesn't even feel worn out.
I'm sure if I drive a low mileage 335i like yours I'd feel a difference, but it is definitely good going for it's age👏🏻

I don't doubt it will survive without a service, as mine has.

But if it were my car at that mileage, I would certainly do it.
You probably know this already but be sure to use a genuine ZF parts from BMW if you service it💯

So much contradictory info on zf8 services. ZF says before 150k if I'm not mistaken (they released other bulletins saying between 80 and 120k km or every 8 years). BMW says lifetime. Others say every 100k. Others also say if over 120k you should not service as doing so leads to issues in the transmission. Others service it and then the gearbox fails thereafter (I suspect the service center would have used the wrong oil). Then you get others who never serviced it at all and are over 300/200k km with no issues.

Others who serviced at say 200k km said the oil was perfectly fine and clean. Others say they did theirs at 100k and it was dirty.

I honestly dont know who to listen to except the ZF manufacturer who say every 150k km / (80k to 120k km). I am unsure why ZF revised the intervals. I am doing my service end of year since my car is at 114k km. Why? Just because it makes sense to service

I'm also very confused and stuck in between wanting and not wanting to service my zf. I'm on 143 000kms and have never done a service on the gearbox. Everything feels good and smooth still.

yes sort of, but you need to remove the gearbox oil pan and drain all the oil to access it.

I might give it a go, if I don't do it now, I might not be able to do it ever. I'll give ZF Cape Town a call and hear what they would quote me.

I recently replaced my pcv valve cover at bmw, unfortunately now after a month, I noticed that my car started smoking a bit when under load or hard acceleration. Almost like a dark grey colour, I am going to do some digging to see what it is, I can't see any visible oil leaks, and also oil level still max, no error codes or any lights on the dash, the car also did not lose power or so. So I am starting to think that it might be fuel related, perhaps a leaking injector. Have you noticed any smoke here and there sometimes? Perhaps it's just a high milage thing. Other than that, the car has been good!

My 335i has been going mostly well thanks, just had to clean sunroof drains after passenger side of the car got flooded with water after rainfall.
Other than that, it's all joy!

Interesting to hear that you are seeing smoke, that's not fantastic news but I doubt it would be serious??
