So......

BAD news with this car, had the car at "Racing Snake" an E30 specialist for the oil pump replacement, bought the car under the impression that the oil pump was poked.

On closer inspection the car had a finger tight crankbolt, 6 bolts missing from the gearbox, almost double its capacity of oil, STUFFED bearings, mismatched injectors (3 unknown bosch injectors and 3 stock ones), engine mounts were missing nuts, motor was sitting on the mounts free of any tethering and that was just at a casual inspection.

Turns out that the oilpump itself was in fine condition and was doing its job, it was loose crankbolts et al that had failed the car.
For all intents and purposes the motor will need a rebuild.

I was informed that the motor was rebuilt with new rings, bearinge etc etc but on what has been found I am not comfortable that anything in that motor will be done correctly and as such will need to strip totally and redo all the work.

:cry::cry:

Paid 45k, but read my post above about the motor, bad news there!

flip bro.

i still think its a worthwhile rebuild.
if you still havent got it right by the end of the year, i quite possibly will want to make you an offer for it.

Ahh dude.
This is sad news indeed.
At least you have it at the master worker himself.
Hope you can come right with not too much expense

Before I decide what to do with this car is anyone interested in buying it as is?

Has:

5/120 Suspension
H and R lowering springs with new monroe shocks, neat interior.
Rust on the drivers side A pillar and drivers side shock tower, neither too bad.
original wheels 2 BRAND new tyres and two 40% tyres.
CODE 3!!
Branches, stainless twin 57mm exhaust.
Neat car actually.

Looking for early R40's for it as is.
If not ill store the car till i can afford a rebuild.

 OH no, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Here's my 2c, if the car is not your daily, i say park the car, find all the parts you need for a rebuild even if it takes u 6 months. after that u'll be able to enjoy it. That's what i'm currently doing with my M Coupe. I made a list of everything that needs to be replaced and every month I buy one item and replace it myself. Don't sell you gonna be sorry and your financial situation might change in a few months, you never know.

+1

Rather rebuild her slowly. To fully rebuild the motor and restore this beauty will cost big money, that's why i wont insult you with an offer.

Was it running when you bought it ? Does it have a bearing knock? or non runner?

Soo gents decided that I would lose too much money selling this ride so I have decided that I am going to do a restoration and build an M20 turbo motor for it.

Yesterday with the help of Kassie, oom Hennie, dazza and the ever popular Racing Snake we pulled the motor out the car, she fought us every inch of the way and we were forced to pull the motor, gearbox and prop all at once. When the motor was free we found that it had a 318is gearbox and an incorrectly matched diff, meaning that the car would rev limit in 5th at around 160ish. Also found more finger tight bolts on the gearbox and a repaired shifter linkage. We wait patiently to see what fresh horrors the inside of the motor bears!

And then had some odd pieces powdercoated white, they look very good, going to do some SERIOUS powdercoating on this old lady!
