R 1 400,00 for oil and coolant change, as well as finding and fixing the oil leak on the power steering.

You know what I found interesting, I went hunting for E28's today, just for the hell of it, and the E28 528's are more expensive then the equiv. E34...

Ok, there are a lot few'r being offered... but... ya

If you are hunting for an E28, they are very cool cars, had a 535i that I miss.

During your hunt watch out for:

1) Propshaft vibration issues

2) The front subframes crack after years of service (Mot often around the steering box and suspn lower arm mounts)

Other than that there is NOTHING serious mechanical that goes wrong, they are tough buggers

rick,

I am not actively seeking one, I have no space, and already own 2 project cars, but we had one as a child, a lil 520 only, but those lines.....

I believe the E28 is to blame for my addiction to big cars

But ya, the E34 is more then enough toy for me... One day when its done, I'll go hunting for a E28

Hey Kabal

I paid 15k for this one. Auto box needs work, or replacement, and the seats need some work (In progress already)

This gearbox of mine is weird. Yesterday it was dead quiet, shifting nicely. In my mind perfect. Later on, and this morning it's whining again.

Jandre,

If the whine is intermittant, then an oil change may sort it out.

If its perm, then there is damage that will have to be repaired.

Do you not have a ZF specialist in the area that can give you a quote ?

Don.

The diff however does not have the ability to hurl furniture or a small rabies infested kitten at you, the wife does :)

So which one is safer ?

I have Triangle Transmissions close to me, as well as Gearbox Exchange.

My mechanic said he knows the guy from Triangle well, and I should rather go there.

Congratulations Jandre!!! You are so going to enjoy driving this one! Absolutely smooth drives!!

You've made a good decision to replace the gearbox, the more I thought about out chat last night, the more it became evident to me that when they start whining, they need fixing or dependent on the extent, replacing!

R5k is a good price, Auto GB's cut into your pockets!

I have to agree with the seats, the car is in very good nick, maar daai seats......is jy seker hierdie was miskien nie 'n LOVE-BOAT nie?? :excited:

Fuzzy, dis my gat se deksel dat iemand meer as R200 000,00 vir die voertuig kon betaal destyds, en dan die seats so deur sy gat trek.

He managed to keep a full service history all these years, why not put some leather care on the seats every now and then.
