I am now starting the road to give my N55 135i E82 DCT a bit more power.
A friend of mine did a hybrid on his FBO Fiesta ST and gave me a massive hiding :blueCry: the faster we went, the further he got away huge gaps not just a car or 2 :thumbdo: launch up till 3rd he was at my boot due to both of us having wheel spin, then he pulled hard and rolling was another story. Very impressive for what that car is though, I was actually shocked.
So over the last few months I have been collecting mods and keeping them in the cupboard and now the day has arrived where I am wanting to fit them.
I have the following:
BMW PPK (on the car)
BMW PE (on the car)
Black Powder coated Alu Charge Pipe (to be fitted)
JB4 Stage 2 (to be fitted)
Downpipe (I am sure it is an Xcede) (to be fitted)
AFE intake (to be fitted)
Vargas Stage 1 Turbo (to be fitted)
I am wanting to get the flex fuel wires for the JB4 as my harness does not have these. If anyone has a set to sell PM me :thumbs:. Plan is to run 20% max e85 at some stage.
I stay in Johannesburg North / Fourways area and want to know if there is a trust worthy place to do the install of at least the DP and turbo for me in this area. I can do the charge pipe, intake and JB4 myself to save some cash? otherwise I will try the places outside of my area.
I have been reading about the right route and there is not much out there on the Stage 1 turbo upgrades (or I am a tool when it comes to searching for what I want). Most people went the Stage 2 route but that unfortunately is not in my budget currently, or they have gone full out FBO meth E40 for the most possible power.
I just want usable power till 6500rpm or so, just more than the stock turbo. I am not looking to break records, just to give a few people a surprise and put the Fiesta ST back in its place :fencelook:
Can anyone who has the stage 1 turbo, be it Vargas, Pure or custom, give me some info on if I need a custom tune right from the get go or if I can comfortably use the base maps on the JB4 (which map setting?) and still feel the difference and enjoy the turbo upgrade?
I will add a meth kit and FMIC in the coming months but as of right now, what I have is what I will put on.
I don't want to stress the DCT out either so what do I need to do here? Will it be fine with what I have currently. Like I said i don't want to max everything out now. I just want some decent power gain all through the revs.
I know it would be easier for me to go to SR or CCD etc and get all this info right from the professionals but I also feel the value of putting this here would help the next guy in my position who is not very clued up and going down the road one step at a time and has spent a weekend googling 'Stage 1 turbo N55 E82 135i etc for all the info he can find :hammerhead:'
I am open to opinions and advice and just general information but I don't want to get in to brand discussions IE this is better than this and bla bla bla. I have this stuff and I intend to use it.
