Midrand (Auto Bavaria), JSN (Bryanston) or Melrose?

Hi,

I basically narrowed my servicing dealer search to 3 dealerships:

1. Auto Bavaria (Midrand): Closest to home and the Gautrain, so I can get to work in Rosebank on time. I understand that they are moving to Allandale Road, but this does not impact me. Only negative is some of the stories on Hellopeter that seem to be worse than those of JSN.
2. JSN: Heard great things about them, but they are too far from work and they do not (according to their booking lady) guarantee an afternoon pick up from - they only have a morning drop off to - Rosebank.
3. Melrose Arch: Very close to work, but I was not impressed with the workshop conditions - it is a small area and the cars are packed like sardines - A ding or two are bound to happen.

I would like to know your views on the 3 dealers above - only for servicing/maintenance requirements. Also, if you can recommend any dealer close to Rosebank (or a Gautrain station), that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Good Day

The last I used was Joburg City Auto a few months back at their new building and I received excellent service, plus they do drop you off and do pick up. Since you in Rosebank it’s even closer.

Sandton auto is also poor service, car went there 3 times. They then used the car to do who knows what. 1/4 tank fuel gone, car didn’t need to be driven for the error it had. What irritates me is the fuel was used but with little mileage done which indicates spirited driving. My cars won’t be going back there. I’ll use JSN.

Eish thanks for letting me know.... Dealers also tend to let the vehicle idle excessively when trying to diagnose something...

Tracker report noted my vehicle idling for 45 minutes at the dealer

I always got the impression that because Sandton Auto is a bit of a 'mod friendly' dealership that they give the impression they are actually doing you a favor...

Jhb city is miles ahead in terms of customer service and satisfaction.

I would use JSN.

Didn’t have a great experience at either Sandton or Melrose.

Cool. My vote is also JSN. I actually saw them doing this on an F30 when I was there the other day.

Update.
Went to JSN today at 7am.
A tech took my key and cleared my car.
I then waited for my service advisor while the concierge team fetched me a coffee and an expensive looking wrapped cookie.
At 7.30am, the driver dropped 2 others and myself off at our work places. It was a 320d msport that also exhibited the window creaking noise!
The service advisor kept me informed on the status of the work by SMS.
I called her to confirm that I am happy to be picked up earlier, so as to avoid traffic.
She arranged for driver to fetch me at 3.30pm. This time in a 320i msport, but the one with chrome window surrounds, so no creaking noises.
Arrived at 4pm, car was washed and ready. Very efficient process and pretty good customer service. Having been with Audi Rivonia since 2010, I would rate BMW JSN as being marginally better.

Some minor criticisms:
-The driver was busy trying to number dial his pick ups in the afternoon while driving and not using handsfree. Surely, he could have loaded the numbers before the afternoon rush.
-The booking lady messed up my booking- making a service booking instead of the window surround fix.
-At Audi Rivonia, the tech is your only point of call - There is no middleman service advisor. While the JSN service advisor is competent, I would still prefer discussing the technical details with the person who actually did the work on my car.

Overall, not a bad customer service experience. I will use them again.

I agree, I Found the process at Rivonia Audi very good and efficient.

I think BMW can learn from that.

Reviving an old topic, given that I am returning to the brand

Which BMW dealership do you use for servicing in the greater Sandton area?

- Melrose no longer exists.
- Sandton Auto has moved to the old Merc dealership location, corner South and Rivonia roads. Have heard mixed reviews.
- JSN still exists. Also mixed reviews.
- Cedar Isle would be a nightmare in Fourways traffic, regardless of reviews.
- Auto Bavaria Midrand has more positive reviews than the others. But, the few negative reviews seem pretty severe.

Open to other suggestions and comments too.

Bmw midrand is a forum advertiser and is willing to assist if there are issues.

You can never have a 100% happy clientele, but there is a reason they growing so well. I would give them a shout
