A little tip from a filmmaker... Just for future reference, use it, don't use it.. Lens choices can be deceiving.
The wider the lens, the faster you look like you are going. NEVER use a telelphoto lens while driving. Because a car traveling at 200kph will look like he's going 60kph, Telephoto lenses compress space, whilst Wide angle lenses stretch it. With a wide angle lens, a car doing 60kph will look like he's doing a hell of a lot more. So, for a realistic idea of speed, look for a 50mm lens, as this gives the closest field of view to what a real person will see.

Very true! With the GoPro, at least with mine, it has three FOV settings to choose - 170°, 127° and 90°. On the 170° setting it is very much like a fish-eye so distorts in order to get more into the frame. The 90° setting is a lot more narrow almost like a standard lens, so the 'middle ground' 127° seems to work quite nicely - still very much playing with this at this stage. Of course my Canon is also capable of HD and actually very good, just bulky.
