I've used this Gtechniq fabric protector. Must work by witchcraft or some kind of magic as it is really amazing. Great for car mats/carpets too.

Interesting to see the different views on the seats. All the dealers tried to talk me out of it, but I think it is much nicer than the leather, very happy with the choice.

Beautiful,

Those BMW stripes on the drivers seat :blowheart:

Are both driver and passenger seats electric?

Haha, it’s the small details that make the differences. BMW stripes on both front seats(just can’t see in pic on passenger). Wish M stripe seatbelts were available too, but not an option on 1 series. Both front seats elec, drivers with memory settings for each key(seats and mirrors). Think you can also program various settings/variations per driver via idrive. The new idrive is really good. Touchscreen, voice, write letters on scroll wheel, all actually just works and is easy to use.

Those seats are much nicer than leather imho. In Europe, most are sold with fabric. Warmer in winter. Cooler in Sumer and still looks perfect after some years of reasonable use. Leather always looks second hand , shiny etc after a few years. No matter how careful u are.
Enjoy the car. It’s awsome.

Id say amongst the other BMW engines that's better than the B58 are the other two he has, V8 and S54:thumbs:
Just missing a V10.

Id rate a healthy V8 DCT at the coast should be plenty quick too though.

Update time................
So the car is properly driven in now, almost 7000km on the clock. Bought the car as a daily and my new job is a 80km round trip each day, so all in all, working out well.
The Good - The engine, damn effortless power. The Tech, it does everything.
The not so good - Build quality doesn't feel as solid as the older BMW's. But its a 1 series vs 3 series I'm used to.
The bad - The steering. Electric steering feels dead, no feeling at all, no feed back to how the front wheels are gripping or not.
Overall - Very happy with the purchase.

General review
Its not an M car and it wasn't purchased with that intention. But it is as faster or faster than my proper M cars. Did I mention its fast!!!! F... fast, but you just don't feel or hear the speed.
Gearbox is amazing! Great fuel economy with the 8 speed box, but somehow it is always in the "right" gear and your have plenty of Nm for overtaking.

I've learned one very important thing from this car. I don't really know what fast is and I don't actually just want fast. To put in context, my slowest car "feels" the fastest. It not about speed, but more about the percevd speed. Higher revving car

So 80,000kms later. What can I say, best little hatchback out there! Fun for for days, B58 and ZF boxes really work well together.
I can't think of anything that comes close to a replacement, but life moves on and lets see what the future holds car wise.
After a few waste of time potential private sales and and and, I got a good offer from BMW and the car was sold today.
She will be missed. Not a bad first family car at all!

Unless I missed it, the only things missing there are heated seats and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. A few options there I wish I had - through load facility, electric seats and maybe the adaptive lights and suspension.
