Wow. Rapid progress for a rapid car. Love the "3D-ness" of the new wheels. Please put my name down on the list of buyers for when you'll be selling in a few years.

I believe a 10mm/12mm spacer will finish things off nicely but not keen on having my motor plan killed because of a spacer

Congrats again Llew, this car looks amazing!!!

I would say put the spacers on and then remove before a service🤷‍♂️ its a small price to pay to have that flush fitment. Or else it's just gonna bother you... 😜 *runs and hides*

Small updates

I just thought I would share a few more pics of the wheels from different angles and light. The more I look at them the more I love them.

Guys these days are always talking about practicality and family use... but it seems work from home has changed the dynamics of the school run quite a bit  . There are also more Porsches, M240s, M2s an S2000 and various other cars people like to call 'impractical' from time to time LOL. I am not the only guy collecting kids or attending to school matters since COVID hit us LOL. The parking lot has certainly changed as well. I normally use the Alfa for this slot but had two to collect on this particular day LOL.

The next item on my list (though probably not soon) is the choice of rear spoiler and whether or not I go with a more aggressive diffuser. This is a bit of a strange one. I feel like the standard lip would have been fine if the diffuser section was 'flat' like the F10's. Because it has the three fins, the spoiler looks out of place.

However, if you put on almost any of the spoilers on offer, the diffuser starts to look a bit weedy and then a diffuser is needed to complete the look... SIGH

Anyway I have narrowed down the choices to two obvious ones on the spoiler:

M Performance Pro Spoiler (Note the body line this follows and how it sits on the edge of the bootlid extending 'outwards')

8VcgztR.jpg

M5 CS Spoiler (Note the different lines it follows and how it sits on top of the bootlid flicking 'upwards'

Firi also has some options but I am taking a break for a few weeks to mull this over (and hopefully get to sorting out the PPF)

I am not planning to do the diffuser anytime soon though... mostly because I am hoping to bag a CS diffuser if the stars align for me at some point in the future. The cost is ASTRONOMICAL (even at Deago rates) for the CS diffuser. Its a lot for the spoiler but still manageable. I am also keeping an eye out on eBay - I had luck with my F10 and some 30 Jahre bits... so you never know.

Car is looking great, I much prefer the new rims over the original ones... I feel the original rims reminded me too much of the previous generation and looked a bit out of place on your car with the colour scheme. The new ones suit the car better.

I like the M performance splitter from those pics, however curious to see which option you go with. Both look great.

Not gonna lie, when you showed the raw pic of the rim I thought it'd look pretty shite and that the original was better. Now that it's on and with the shadow and light through those "vents" in the spokes it looks insane (also unpleasant to clean!) Amazing car. Personally not a fan of either spoiler would rather see you get the diffuser and other small carbon bits here and there on it (carbon mirrors?) :)

Thanks guys

I had watched enough videos to be convinced and then when you see them in person any doubt is removed LOL. They are ridiculously light as well vs. the originals.

The spoiler is a really really tough one. The decision on the F10 was really easy. The F90 ones a a little too chunky looking. I will definitely look at some of the other carbon bits over time!

I agree, either spoiler will definitely spoil it 😃

In case anyone was wondering what the M Performance Car cover was like. With @deago.parts@abmbmw level pricing, it was cheaper than custom options locally which I had looked at before and which don't come with the prints/branding on it. The OEM cover seems to be made by the same company as my Alfa cover which I have been very happy with.

Many people wonder why you might need one of these and the reality is garages are 'working' environments or otherwise exposed to dust . In this case you can use a feather duster or something similar to dust off these (fairly slick) covers and have a car ready to go. I think once you have one, you see the benefit even though most of the time I don't have both on. I was telling @Nish_H (who also got one for his Supra) that I will always get one for any car I buy in future.

Some cosmetics are incoming too... watch that space... one probably from @FiRi@Rennzport and the other which I have had to jump through many hoops to get LOL

Somewhat unrelated, also a shoutout to @FiRi@Rennzport and @Neven for sorting me out at EXTREMELY short notice on my sudden power requirement changes and associated renovations LOL. A power surge resulted in my long serving inverter failing... and as part of installing the new one 'the right way', I decided it was time to pull everything off the walls, sort out a few issues I had, repaint. do a new garage door motor etc etc (pics are from WIP).

Nice Llew, they look great. I agree with your comments; with my car being parked off during the week, it collects quite a bit of dust. So getting a car cover is something (like you) that I will get for all my future cars.

A belated update and shout out to @deago.parts@abmbmw and Hevashan at BMW Midrand. This took place a few weeks back but time has been short between work and another big project which I might share soon.

I booked the car in for something I experienced several times on my F10 M5... a tell tale rotational clicking from the front wheel that was usually cause for a new wheel bearing (effectively a new hub on this car given the way that BMW sells the part). I have never been convinced this is a wheel bearing failure since the wheel behaves 'normally' and there is no hum or any ill effects despite the irritating noise.

BMW is now retrofitting a friction plate of sorts to the front axle (together with their usual fixes) which seems to have fixed the issue without replacing wheel bearings. Not sure if they are also doing this on the F10 and F8x. They also replaced the front discs on the car due to micro cracks in the disc surface (though from what I've read these are pretty normal).

@deago.parts@abmbmw also performed his usual party trick of taking me from "ok I'll think about it" to "OK that's a no brainer" with a good deal on the M Performance Pro spoiler. This sits at the edge of the boot lid and follows the body lines nicely from multiple directions which I tried to show in some of the pics below. I was never convinced by the pics I had seen online, and I doubt I would be by the ones below, but it looks like it 'belongs' on the car. I will get a diffuser soon (but likely not an M Performance one - something a bit different).

The spoiler looks good Llew!

All it needs now is some Stek DynoShade on the taillights ;) Seeing @Riaad's 330d convinced me to get it done my F30, just need to find the time.
