been super busy, havent been here for ages....

so today I ended up hitting scrapyard gold!!!

when to go get a replacement high speed aux fan relay, and ended up picking up a set of OEM bosch headlights with 95/100 condition glass

for R1500 for the set :praise:

there is a flaw in one of them, in that the guide rail/slider for the indicator is broken on the bottom. the top one is fine, while the other headlight has both intact. I am sure I can jiffy some sort of fix, it is hidden after all, so doesnt have to be perfect.

obviously I now need to redo my projector retrofit, but at least it will be 100x easier, and I can use shrouds

so I finally disassembled my depo's, and redid the projector retrofit inside the Bosch headlights. much happier with the results.

Initially I decided to not use the round glass covering the low beam, but I didn't like the way you could see some of the headlight which wasn't the original reflector and the shroud, so then I added the glass back.
I think it makes it look much better, and if there is any lighting performance hit, it is negligible, due to the center of the glass being clear anyway.

Shroud had to be modified quite a bit to fit, nothing a dremel cutting wheel couldn't handle:

Well done.

When I did mine I was getting frustrated with those shrouds.

And where's the RHS splitter?

Dude, you cant have a 420mm numberplate on the front of an ///M. Looks like freaking coach bolts holding it on too.

Ag nee man.

Havent been on here in a while :fencelook:

But thought I should do some updates.

Embarrassingly, since I bought my car, I never got the the roadworthy done, just kept forgetting. So, it was in my name, just on the old disc. Then my disc expired, and was time for a new one, and obviously they didnt give it to me, due to requiring roadworthy.....

So, went for roadworthy, and failed, needed new front left, and rear right tires, plus right right handbrake not strong enough.

Ended up buying a set of Falken FK453 from Errol's Tyres, cant complain at R6000 for the set, delivery 2 days later, plus fitment and aligment.
Ended up going with OEM 245/40/17 at rear, and non-standard 235/40/17 at front, just because 225/45/17 is a stupid looking front profile.

Rained a bit yesterday and today, and didnt slide of the road

Upon taking the wheels off, found that rear discs and pads are close to EOL, so those must be taking care of soonish. Fronts are still in great condition.

Another kind of annoying thing that I have noticed happening, is that when I arm my alarm, my left headlight flashes. Seeing as I have an HID & projector retrofit, this is bound to drastically reduce the life of that bulb. unfortunately I have searched the internet high and low, with no solutions to this issue.
