These guys quoted me R 750 for a touch up and R 1800 for a diamond cut - I am not sure what the differences are and if a touch up would be sufficient

Sounds about right I paid 1800 to fix the diamond cut on the previous x3, never noticed it after that and rim has no signs of paint pealing etc. They also did my M2 recently no issues 7 washes later, I missed judged the entrance to a customer doing only 5km/h, yet one can go sideways with no issues 😂

I did use a touch up service once on my m4 and no one could tell it was touched up... I guess if you get the right guys to do it you should not have issues

Ended up doing this with Reliable Mag repairs - the work was decent I guess. That said, now that I know how it looks, I think I know how to find it in other cases if it has been done. The service was decent up until the point I paid for the repair. After that, not really. The finishing was poor but I got no response. Fortunately, BMW did not see/comment on the repair so I've let the issue go.
