Newbie alert, and a VERY long introduction
Hi / Salaam all. Been browsing this forum for a while now.
I’ve noticed a few users I know from NOC & Carforums, and have been on the bmfanatics whatsapp chat for a few months as well – met some of the guy’s this past weekend and a really chilled bunch of guy’s – been around a few car “clubs” in my days and one thing I have noticed is that majority of the guy’s are generally cool okes. It must be the fact that deep down we are all petrolheads at the end of the day, irrespective of whatever brand or club we favour ?

I’ll probably get flamed here because the fact is I didn’t grow up a huge BMW fan, like probably everyone here.
But before you guy’s get out the knives & pitchforks, bear with me for a while.
:cartel:
I grew up in the 80’s, and since I can remember, I’ve loved Jap cars. Very partial to Nissan, but have much love for Toyota & Honda as well. When all my buddies could only dream of Kush’s, and later M3’s, all I ever wanted was a VDL Skyline 2.8GTX and later, a Godzilla ofcourse.
Now there has always been a few BM’s that I have been a “fan” of. My first was probably the old 635CSL, then the first generation M5, and even though I never really “loved” E30’s, despite spending much time in & driving them, thanks to the mates mentioned above, I did like the 333i a lot. I'll never forget my first ride in an M5 as an 11 year, with the driver being a really hot MILF.
Talking about M cars, well, I think ANY petrolhead can appreciate an M car, and I was/am no different. I just didn’t really dream of owning one, BUT if money wasn’t an issue, ofcourse I would have at least one in my collection. And I even liked some non-M cars over the years, e.g. E36 328i Motorsport, E46 330i LCI Motorsport, X5 4.8is, etc
When it came to the big 3 German’s, I’ve always had a really soft spot for performance / AMG Merc’s, and always thought that if a gun was put to my head to go German, I would definitely end up with an Amangee.

Coming to my point, even the most die-hard Nissan fan will have to admit that if you are currently looking for a decent middle class affordable Nissan family car in South Africa, with good performance, build quality, fuel consumption, safety, good looks, part availability, etc, well you ain’t gonna get it. I like the Juke Turbo & Qashqai DCI’s, but yeah, not quite what I meant by “car”

Now, very importantly, for most of my life, I only considered a “real” BMW to be a) at least 6 cylinders, b) manual & c) petrol.
And most probably only with an “M-pack”

But in my experience, life really has a funny way of making a gat of you
So when it came down to it a few months ago, I was almost going to sign for a C220 CDI with AMG kit. Was really really nice. But I just couldn’t do it ! Truth be told, ever since the facelift was done on the e90, I kinda liked it deep down. Alot. Only my wife knew this, and even she worried about it

So just about exactly 4 months & 10 000km ago, I took delivery of Vader, my 320d LCI.
a) 4 cylinder, b) auto & c) diesal
And no, not M-Pack

And yes, have loved every minute so far
:blowheart:
Still stock for now. Have changed the backbox & tailpiece because no amount of autosol made me like that stock droopy tailpipe. Just added my old sub temporarily for some low frequencies but plan to visit Solly at Hygrade to make a nice enclosure. Added some “angel eye” globes for the DRL’s at Violet Electronics. Some slimline windshields. And this past weekend Arbee fitted some Laminex for me on the headlights. (settling nice by the way Yaseen)
Have plans for it for the future, but for now I just want to make monthly repayments & keep her reliable Insha'Allah / God Willing. As can be seen from mileage already done above, car works hard er'day

So, long story short, never say never guy’s
Hope to learn much here from what seems like a lekker community

The new custom tailpiece & DRL's. Crappy cellphone pics but will update the thread at a later stage with better pics. Both look ALOT better in the flesh IMHO

OK, as per STT's request, my old faithful. And I do mean old, something like 436 000km old. Have had her for 13 years this year. Still love her to bits & plan to hopefully keep her for life.
I replaced the original "DE" motor in 2012 with a stock "VE" / VVL motor, simply because it's even better and more practical. The DE had around 415 000km on it but was still perfect, pulling hard & clean to 7400rpm with it's old cheap a$% regrind cams, with no smoke or anything
Very happy with the VE swap though, and the only plan for it motor wise will be a set of OEM N1 cams, so I can move my limiter from 7800rpm to 8200rpm
On the stock motor she made 124wkw at altitude, which is around 170kw at the fly at sea level, with around 250nm. Traction is a problem on the ancient suspension, especially when wet or visiting the coast

Some pics, and a dyno run at Jozi altitude :
