Thanks Guys, ok so an update of what i did on the car since i got her,

full service: 144 000km
* Oil and Filter change-shell Helix HX7 synthetic
* 6 spark plugs- Bosch spec as per real oem (4prong design) BKR6EP8
* airfilter
* replaced number 5 coil with new from bosch due to sporadic fault code, Code is gone
*replaced front brake discs and pads with ATE replacements,new sensor as well, sprayed calipers black while i was at it
* fuel filter (done a week later as i thought bmw were supposed to have changed it at inspection 2 but this one still had the yellow paint markings on the pipes from when it left the factory, filter must be collapsed inside as the 20hp that left the car before i got it came back with a veangance, leaves me with the need to inspect the fuel pump as well for piece of mind)
*removed the lower cats on the exhaust as it was easier to access and still havent decided on headers or gutting the existing cats on the top.

145000km:
* replaced Vanos Seals with Beisian Kit, old seals were very hard and and piston moved inside the cylinder very easily, 4.5hour job to complete.
* replaced tappet cover gasket during the above job,
* replaced front tyres with 2 x 225/45/17 Falkens excellent tyre over last 1500 odd kms, good price as well @710 a piece
*replaced rear tyres with 255/40/17 nankang i got for a steal on gumtree,

146000km:
* replaced the pirate headlight that was fitted on the left front with a genuine one from Gizmo,
* installed the LED angel eyes from Vsomai and LED parklights
*fitted super white bulbs on the lower fogs, dipped beam and main beam. NB. no HIDS as i cant get projectors

To be Done: (next 2 weeks)
* delivery of the smoked lower fogs is being done tom, will fit them over the weekend,
* Laminex on the headlight, indicators and fender repeaters.
* Plastidip the kidney grills
* recover my spare Msport gearknow at cabriolet
* smash and grab in 35% shade

TO be Done: (next 2 months)
* spray and install the hamman style roof spoiler (labour for the job is mad as well as someone who can spray the 2 tone paint on) :cry:
* Dice mediabridge 1500 with built in bluetooth
* upper strut brace on the front
* a set of rubber mats to fit the interior (hens bloody teeth i tell you!)

wishlist: i probably would have sold the by the time i do this
* TMS reduction pulleys
* camshafts
* remap

will keep updating as changes occur...

i cleaned the contact area where the Pads and Discs meet with some solvent to take of the overspray..

not very impressed with thier birdshit welding but i needed to take the cats out as a matter of nesessity as oppossed to tuning, they were clogged out very badly..

question:

why did they have to put boxes/resonators in the cats place, why not just straight pieces of exhaust tubing? surely it will be cheaper and less restrictive - not so?

im asking as i would also like to do this mod on my 330:thumbs:

Resonators - deeper sound.
Straight pipes - raspier sound.

Resonators not restrictive. Just a matter of how you want it to sound

Hi Acid, as Chris said the resonators have a deeper sound to it, no need to sound like a super Mazda 323... Lol... Also there is a fabulous burble from he back when navigating shopping mall parking lots etc...

Hi Sank, the car was showing 7000 odd km till next oil service when I got it, I could not consciously leave whatever oil was in there to run not knowing how long the car stood or what was its daily life like, so I grabbed a the hx7 synthetic in 10w-40 as a filler till the next oil change, sledging has been an issue in the e46 and that's exactly what I wanted to avoid...it won't be in there for long though..

Osiris.. That Diesal of mine was special..like mental case special!:roflol:

It took punishment every single day and kept coming back for more! The torque was addictive and made the car extremely drivable... If only the 320d didn't give new diesels such a bad name then maybe things would have Been different and I would have gotten another Diesal..

Pho3nix.., thanks boet.. They beautifully cars...

I can understand that, but still 7k on the service indicator means that the car had probably done around 18k km which would probably warrant just changing the oil in anyway, at least for me. Sludging is not really a specific e46 problem, it is just in part due to the castrol oil that was used originally in the e46 and the fact that BMW decided to get ridiculous with their service intervals, 25k km is just too long...on that note I would service the car every 10 to 15k km, just to be on the safe side.

Stunning car dude:thumbs: Nice colour, although it must be a mission to keep clean. I must admit though, I'm not really a fan of cosmetic mods on cars like these as they came out factory looking awesome as it is. Would love to see some pics of the interior:thumbs:
