Nice one bro, I have had the same itch to update the e46 to Android.

Dismantling the dashboard is always frustrating, the work space is to cramped imo.
E46 is actually very very simple bro. Let me know when you ready

In an effort to keep my 335 is the best possible condition, cosmetically and mechanically, we constantly searching for things to improve on.

In 2017 I purchased a secondary OCC kit for the car, and never got down to fitting it.
In 2015 I fitted the primary occ and pcv valve, but that only catches blow by oil which is captured on wide open throttle.

The secondary occ is now a second Oil catch which is fitted to capture oil from the low load and just normal cruising. There's 2 way on connecting, one involves tapping and drilling holes into the head just by the intake valves, which I'm not confident enough to get done. The objective is to reduce as much oil and carbon buildup as well in the valves.

The install is pretty simple and will take around an hour or 2. Mounted the second can on the cold side of the engine bay so it's easier to remove and clean.

1st test was to see how much oil is collected over a long distance drive to KZN.
Did a 1500KM over the 10 days and when I got home decided to open it up and see whether it's working or not.

Glad to report that the setup is definately working. I didn't measure it, but I'd gauge around 100ml worth of oil collected. Glad to report it's not any funky milky colours.

Looks good Firi.

Imagine you did not have the second OCC.

That gunk would stick and build up on your intake valves.

So many updates from this year that haven't been put on this thread. I hope can remember them all
:dunnoanymore:

A DIY I was dreading to do, and I’ve been putting off for a substantial amount of time was the dreaded E90 interior door handles becoming like glue and leaving that black residue all over your hand. I finally had enough of it started on the rear door handles as well, and felt it was now the time to get this done once and for all. I knew I didn’t want to go the Oem route again, just to be met with the same disaster a few years down the line, so started thinking of what I could do myself. Initially thought I would remove the handles, and either just sand them down and put them back, but upon closer inspection, realised the wear and breakdown of materials was starting to make it way to the front of the handle. I then thought maybe I could wrap them in Alcantara to match the steering and seats, but then said my kids would end us destroying that as well :fencelook:

Pics of the worn handles on the car

So the hunt started for a set of new handles which had no fabric or rubber on them. Thought about gloss black to tie in with the interior bits, but quickly let that idea slide as I kmew finger prints would drive me insane. Ended up settling for something I was happy with and will reveal a bit further down.

Freed up a Saturday afternoon and and had a look at a quick video on how to get it done.

Simple steps really...

1. Remove the door plastic trims using a plastic prying tool. Omce removed there 4 screws to loosen.

2. Remove the front cover of the door handle in the same way and loosen the screw there as well.

3. The next step is to remove the entire door card. Fairly simple to do usinf the trim remover tools. Once complete loose, unclip the door handle cable, unclip the soeaker cable and the light right at the bottom. Repeat the ssme process for all 3 doors.

4. Once all the door cards are out, it’s time to grab your drill and pliers. On the door card there are 4 small plastic tabs which are a part of the original door handle. You have to break these off in order to remove the handle. I tried breaking them with a plier, but they were just too damn hard, so I just drilled them out which made it much easier and then made sure everything was using the plier.

Once out, i just cleaned the holes and got ready to put the new ones in. The pictures below will show how bad the condition was.

So the new handles come with screws and washers to secure them from the inside of the card and it was great getting everything supplied with the kit.

The process of putting them in, is just the reverse procedure of the removing the oem ones.

I opted to settle on a carbon dipped door handle which looked really good.

Overall I extremely happy with the purchase, fitment and feel of the door handles.

Pictures below.

Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think.
