Finally have the car I always wanted

So after changing so many cars in a few years...ended up with a 2000 540i...always wanted 1!!!!

Its a 2000 BMW 540i (Steptronic), 142000km, FSH, Steel Blue, Glass s/r, Immaculate, rear blind, phone, dsc, elctronic seats, steering, mfs...and the other usual E39 extras

Put on about 1000km so far on the car, its the most pleasurable drive I have ever had...used it to Louis Trichardt over the weekend, had it on speedo cruise 130km/h, felt like the car isnt moving... then had a Land Rover on my case at about 150km/h...and couldn't resist the urge...so pulled off from the toll and got to 190km/h in what seemed to me like nano-seconds....

Love the car, don't think I will part with it anytime soon, the throttle response in S and M (+/-) mode is great and scary at the same time...

Would like to just sort out the Dash pixels by replacing the ribbon.

Changed the tyres to Hankooks at R1200 a piece...it give a much quieter ride than the Dunlops it had on.

Now you see why we all love them so much, far faster than they look.

Enjoy the car, welcome to the V8 club :bravo:

Stunning ride. My dads E39 523i has those wheels on. They seem bigger on hos car though.

I would give a lot of things that I shouldn't for a car like that, but the fuel consumption scares me, Seriously though. What average fuel consumption can you expect from a car like that with daily driving and the occasional blast?

Considering that I drive an e36 328i and find 11l - 12l / 100km to be acceptable

Suprisingly, I get the same consumption...much lower on the open road, in traffic the worst I got was 13l/100km (this is with the occasional rocket launch to squeeze into the Lynnwood off-ramp lol))...on the open road nothing more than 10l/100km.

The low v8 revvs entertain me...but the kick down revv up in S mode does things to a man!

That's great consumption! Mine is currently one 20L/100km average for pure town driving. On the open road I get 10L/100km and 15L/100km is what I'm currently on overall. It's totally worth it though :) :)

lovely car dude. a buddy of mine recently bought one, and if it weren't for the consumption i would also own one.
