btw what is that silver module?
SAPS hat?
Silver module is a ULF for bluetooth.
If it's a retrofit it will need the fibre optics to be rewired and coding will be required.
Atleast that is what it looks like to me.
I've done a couple of these retrofits already, got it down pat :=):
All pre-LCI E9x cars come prewired for BT, thus all the required wiring is there for a ULF. It's a simple matter of adding the BT antenna under the passenger side dash and installing a MIC in the overhead lights cluster.
When installing a MULF, it's a little more tricky as you need to install two cables from the boot to the armrest for USB and Audio (as the Aux in no longer goes to the radio). And these use FAKRA connectors that can't really be made up in your own garage. Also, the big white connector going to the ULF must have its housing changed to a blue one to fit into a MULF. I've made a plan to make it work though.
Or you can have my luck and have an E9x LCI with no wiring whatsoever. This was a pain on my 320d as I had to carefully strip all the wires out of a pre-LCI car and make up a loom to work on an LCI. Lucky I don't need anything this drastic on the M3 as it's mostly prewired. Just have to get the USB cables in.
Coding I can do with my eyes closed. Ok, maybe with one eye closed
