E39 528i Boot stuck shut

I've been looking for a topic about this but I cannot seem to find thread or solution.

We have a 1998 E39 528i, the boot won't open at all and now our battery is completely flat and needs to be replaced.

Has any e39 owner come across this issue and how did they get the boot to open?

Connect a battery to the positive jump pole in the engine bay and earth on the shock tower.
That will power the whole car and you can release the boot from the passenger area

How do you release the boot from the passenger area? In the Glove compartment?

is there no glow in the dark emergancy release on e39 you can pull on??
If your seats in rear dont fold down, there should be a "ski hole" in the centre.

If you open that, you should see emergency release.

atleast thats what the e46 has
