Good afternoon Fellow Fanatics,

an unfortunate incident happened over the weekend. On my wat home at about 9pm, on a dark road I drove over rocks that were placed in the road. This was most probably placed there to get me to stop. I saw it too late and drove right over, luckily I only hit my under carriage and not the bumper, else the damage could have been much worse. I continued driving until I reached home. The car did not have any issues while driving, smooth shifting of gears and no comments on the iDrive. When I got home pulled up and tried to park it and switch it off, to shift the gear lever in "P" it was a bit difficult, with a little bit of force it eventually went into Park and I could switch it off and remove the key.

The next day I tried to see if the gear lever was still an issue. I tried starting it and it did nothing. I then moved the Gear Lever into Neutral and it Started and by shear luck the lever moved freely between all the different selections.

I did not drive the car yet, just idled. I was wondering if some can shed some light on whether I should still have it checked out or try and drive it to see if anything is wrong.

Thank you in advance for the feedback.

Rocks in the road is very popular on the N2 and roads leading to the airport in Cape Town. Ive seen it so many times and I have had to drive arround a few concrete blocks in the last 5 years. Its bad Im so focused ahead and drive slower just to be able to avoid it but now they even more clever and sling stones to your car to distract you as this happend to a work colleague. They also tend to take out the street lights so that its dark and difficult to see.
