Budget friendly tyres on performance cars

I run Michelin sport 5's on my Cortina bakkie why? cos they grip like crazy and I don't want to compromise on safety. It's probably overkill but for a couple of grand more than cheap non descript tyres,I'd rather pay the extra.

Nexens are a hit and miss - but the poor support/accountability from Mintys is simply not worth the trouble.

Had a new set of Nexens fitted on the X6 and they just couldn't get it to balance properly after several attempts. Blamed everything from the car, to the wheels, and even my driving style!

Eventually got an independent report from elsewhere using RoadForce equipment to say that the tyres were indeed defective - this was at my own cost as well. After weeks of fighting, they eventually agreed to give me a refund and I opted for a set of Bridgestones (paid in the difference) - with zero issues on the Bridgestones.

So sometimes it's not about the cheap tyres only - its about the ability to support when there are issues.

For the record, I bought other (premium) brands from Mintys - no issues, other than the sh!t Nexens.

I previously tried a couple of different manufacturers. F10 had 275/35/19 rears which were a pain to get stock on.
Car came with Pirelli P Zero which was horrible. Delaminated rear right on the highway, end developed bubbles on all corners. Replaced with Falken FK520s which were great. This was a much more comfortable tire than the P Zero and still had enough traction to feel safe. Only did about 10k kilos on them before I sold, not sure how far you can go on a set.
Had a Fiesta ST before that, tried Dunlop SP Sport which I did not like much. Reviews say they're great, but I felt they lacked grip, and heavily impacted braking distance. Replaced those with Pilot Sports which are just the cream of the crop.
Have never tried true budget tyres as I believe you spend as much as you comfortably can for anything that can impact safety.
