Wow car looks amazing.....
Thought you would put a ZHP knob?

I tried the ZHP Knob. But I noticed that on the Z4 M the ZHP knob makes the throw *very* short with a noticeable increase in shift effort. When driving the car hard, this was not a problem but around town it was a lot more tiresome. I felt that the weighted "long" gear knob was the best middleground, and has the added benefit of maintain the stock appearance.

Adi it's a race car first and foremost so stop complaining about the effort :)

What an awesome car!

Gee that is clean! Where did you get the leatherique treatment from? I need something proper to treat my old car.

Did I see that this car is for sale?

I’ve mentioned the possibility to a few people. Have not begun to actively market it.

Just in case anyone has been wondering, this car is still around. I'll put a brief update here to bring the thread somewhat up-to-date.

Despite the mileage growing very slowly in the last 5 years, I still use this car relatively frequently and enjoy it a lot. As you can see below, it's mostly behaved itself mechanically. I took care of rod bearings and I'm really glad I did - at 78,000km they were in shocking condition - something I have noticed to be a bit of a trend with Z4 M - the rod bearings usually come out looking worse than you'd expect for the mileage compared to E46 M3s.

There have been times when I have considered selling, but it's just such a special car in such nice condition, I really can't bring myself to sell it. It's so much fun, and such a unique car. After several years, it's still a winner in my book.

Been ignoring mine the past 2 months. Rear tires are dry rotted so must replace.

How did you find the projector upgrade? Would love a review of them, cost, performance, ease of install?

Took the E46 projectors apart and found the projector with a weird dirt film over them, but the main culprit (I suspect) was the reflector behind the projector, the chrome had lost its shine, so it is probably time for me to upgrade/repair them

Install is best done with the headlights out of the car. To do this, you have to take the bumper off which isn't technically difficult, just a little time consuming the first time you do it. It helps to have an extra pair of hands when refitting to get it all aligned.

Once you've done that, access into the back of the headlight is relatively easy, and the old projectors screw out, and the new ones screw in.

Here's a link to the results from my 330i with the same upgrade: https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/threads/round-2-adis-2004-bmw-330i-m-sport-6mt.77008/post-1406675

The projectors are from RetrofitLab based in NL.
