Interesting, but does someone who is paying over R2M for a vehicle really care about 10K vs 20K in maintenance costs? Would they care about body repair costs considering insurance would be covering this either way? I feel if they did, people would have stopped buying Range Rovers (or performance SUVs for that matter) years ago.

Good point.
On the maintenance/ service costs, these may be of interest to used car buyers out of Plan, or those new car buyers who intend keeping the car beyond the Plan. Granted, these costs in the article are not future costs, but may give an indication of how future costs may rank between brands.

On the body repair cost, one could argue that it has a bearing on insurance premiums. Though, theft risk may have a greater weight instead of accident repair claim value.
