Swapped out my front window rubber last night. Old one had texture closer to putty than rubber. Makes a huge difference. Will post some new after updated pics soon.

Also coming to the end of my sleep well at night S85 owner's checklist:

Current Mileage 96000km
1. Conrod bearings done at 85k ish owner
2. Throttle actuators done at 85k ish by previous owner
3. Changed gearbox oil, old oil was filthy and level quite low, seems it seeped a bit from fill hole over time
4. Changed rear diff oil
5. Changed SMG hydraulic pump fluid with Pentosin CHF11S
6. Performed SMG adaptions successfully
7. Reset clutch bite, clutch starting to show some wear, maybe next item due but not until its starting to influence driving
8. Monitor Vanos solenoid health on ISTA, replace seals and clean when showing signs of degrading
9. Monitor Vanos pump and pipe health via external pressure gauge
10. Identified that my vehicle has most of the revised vanos components, silver and not black solenoids as well as upgraded oil pump gears and high pressure pump according to manufacture date

To consider: Fuel filter and injectors, either clean or replace?

Other than that some cosmetics still on the list:
1. Front bumper respray
2. Indicator light cracked to be replaced
3. New OEM inner door handles
4. New wheel badges
5. Window switches are sticky, thinking of trying a respray by a professional shop. Drivers side is apparently not manufactured anymore so I can’t get from the dealers.

Decided to add a last checklist to the S85 sleep well list. New injectors and fuel filter. Decided to go with the S65 Bosch injectors, if imported prices are not that bad. S85 Injectors are unaffordable for most at current prices of 200 usd per injector.

So today was fuel filter day. Decided to do that before injectors so that any possible sediment disturbed whilst changing will not go to the new injectors.

New Bosch filter, was very dusty around the hole so first had a proper clean.

I managed to get the seal ring loose with my hands and 2x screwdrivers.

For the sake of science I broke open the old filter. Remember only 96000km on it. It was very nasty, would strongly suggest to replace this earlier.

Good work, good to see these cars being looked after properly.

That fuel filter is nasty! Z4 has something similar, but one needs to drop the tank to access it...mine is sitting on 170,000km...wonder what it looks like

Going to do 2x easy accessible pcv valves this afternoon.

Injectors were changed over the weekend so im very excited to see if I have some increased acceleration after these changes.

That filter I removed must definitely have restricted flow as there is a brown flaky layer that covered all the surface area on it.

Tune loaded to make slight adjustments to the S65 injector flow rate and latency. Thanks to a tuning company in Netherlands from another prominent M5 forum.

Some new items needing attention showed up. Then vanos solenoids read between 0.5 an 0.54 on ISTA and rates not okay. Here I need some advice, do I clean then and replace seals or replace them as a whole $$$?

See ratings below. Issue is with intake 1 and exhaust 2 on the spread too small. IMG_20250419_141047.jpgIMG_20250419_141009.jpgIMG_20250419_140942.jpgIMG_20250419_140919.jpgIMG_20250419_140903.jpg

Measured my vanos pressure as well. Sits nicely at 70 bar and goes up to 80 bar at 5000 rpm so at least that seems perfect.

If you can afford it change solenoids (no insult implied or intended)
Make sure you are sitting down when you order them.

Thanks @Peter@AEW.

I think that might be the end destination. If im going to do the effort I might replace the o rings and swap bank 1 and bank 2 and see if error goes with them.

I did the 3x bleed procedure and the results seem to differ now. Issues are both on bank 2 intake and exhaust now.

Us prices actually seem half decent. About 275 usd each, add some shipping and import tax.

Dont know if local dealers will be cheaper. Might just replace the two faulty ones and monitor from there.

Well this seems to show how finicky the solenoids are. Over the course of the weekend I bled them about 3x times with ISTA. This morning changed oil for good measure and to visually inspect. Went for Castrol Edge 10W60.

After oil change bled the solenoids once more, reset adapations and ran test. Now al 4 are reading above 0.8 and withing spec. So seems I can postpone the cleaning for now.
