how did you prep it? IE: get the Soft touch plastic off?

Yes you have to sand it down to bare plastic, or else the soft touch junk lifts

I have used those rattle cans you can buy at any Midas. "Sprayon"
As NBN said, take the matte black. Looks the same as the OEM finish
